bowlman23 Posted August 25, 2017 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2017 Hi everyone, Hopefully, a quick question. I'm going on a cruise in December and I want to get trip insurance - preferably through a third-party. I booked only a few days ago. Essentially, I'm looking for a plan that will cover in the event of trip cancellation due to illness (not just my own, but my girlfriend's daughter has a pre-existing condition that is pretty serious. She's been healthy (knock on wood) but would like to have a plan that would cover the cancellation in the event of illness. Everything else, I could use the basic benefits. Any suggestions? Thanks! cherylandtk Posted August 26, 2017 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) Travel Guard, Travel Insured or Travelex, be sure to purchase within the time limit in order to waive the PEC for the daughter. Is she traveling with you? Also be sure to cover all prepaid NR costs. Edited August 26, 2017 by cherylandtk

bUU Posted August 26, 2017 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2017 Also check on http://www.insuremytrip.com. I was very impressed with Nationwide Insurance's cruise-specific policies that are among the many policies that are sold there. I was also impressed both with the service provided to me so far both by agents of http://www.insuremytrip.com and by agents of Nationwide Insurance. cargo13 Posted August 28, 2017 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2017 The comparison site Insure My Trip recommended GENERALI Travel Insurance (used to be CSA) because they have: 1. liberal definition of family members that pass for trip cancellation 2. pre existing conditions coverage is included even at final deposit purchase They have other interesting services that we used--their virtual doctor saved us a trip to a hospital in Jamaica--diagnosed a skin rash via video and sent prescription to their pharmacy. You can see them on their website http://www.generalitravelinsurance.com or call as their Customer Service as very helpful.
