stellarcam Posted September 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2017 My sister-in-law needs a scooter for our cruise October 1 because of foot surgery. Should RCCL be contacted or are there companies that I can contact directly for delivery to the ship. Thanks for any help you can give me.

My dad rented a scooter for this November.. we haven't used it yet but I think they are a reputable company.. they deliver directly to your stateroom, so at the pier you will need to ask for wheelchair assistance from RCCL. And yes- contact RCCL and let them know too. http://www.specialneedsatsea.com/

They chair was in our cabin when we boarded and we just left it in the cabin at the end of the cruise. Worked out great. Aboat1 Posted September 3, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 3, 2017 I rented from the company suggested by the cruise line. It was in my cabin on arrival and I just left it there when our cruise was over. It was very easy and made a world of difference in my cruise experience. https://www.scootaround.com/cruise-rentals
KBD1516 Posted September 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 3, 2017 If you can use a transport chair (lighter and easier to use than a wheelchair), consider buying one. The price is reasonable and may be less than renting a scooter. Someone does have to push a transport. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

gerif Posted September 3, 2017 #7 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Hopefully your SIL has an accessible cabin or at least a JS or a scooter may not fit.

AAA75 Posted September 3, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Does anybody know the cost to rent a scooter? Our cost for October is $185, through special needs at sea, for 7 days. They work with rccl. The room is also important as the door needs to be wide enough. Our TA recommended them.
Aboat1 Posted September 3, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Does anybody know the cost to rent a scooter? We paid $175.00 for a 7 day cruise on Harmony in late June. Worth every penny.
hollon Posted September 3, 2017 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2017 Wow, I think I got ripped off. I'm going thru a TA and they ordered a scooter for my sister for next May and it was 250.00. I didn't do my research at all. I think I'll try and cancel and rebook?
Tee & Chilli Posted September 3, 2017 #12 Share Posted September 3, 2017 An electric scooter is different than a motorized chair. Both accomplish the same thing however some people may have a preference.
