cruisinwhizz Posted September 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Have just booked - Classical Greece - departing Dubrovnik on 28th September. The itinerary swung the last minute decision - five new ports to visit in 6 days - excellent. But the thought of the 5.20am flight from Manchester is very painful! Have looked to see how busy the ports will be on the cruise, and reckon the following - Thursday Dubrovnik AIDAblu, MSC Sinfonia also in port Saturday Corinthos on our own Sunday Itea on our own Monday Katakolon MSC Poesia also in port Tuesday Corfu AIDAblu, Costa Deliziosa, Norwegian Star, Queen Victoria and Aegean Odyssey all in port!!!!!!! Wednesday Kotor on our own Thursday Dubrovnik AIDAblu, MSC Sinfonia also in port Corfu looks as though it is going to be very busy ;( On the first day looking to go into Dubrovnik after we have dumped our luggage in our cabin (looking at the time of the flight we'll probably be on board before the previous occupants have left haha). Does anybody know if there is a shuttle bus laid on between the port and the old town?
Pensioncruiser Posted September 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Unfortunately no shuttle bus, you can catch the local bus but its very busy and you will require local currency Kuna. IMO best option is taxi which you could share and they take euros or kuna, price is fixed, don't forget you have to be back for the safety drill also sit on left side of coach from airport great views.
Vitalsign Posted September 7, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Can recommend the fast boat trip up the fiord in Kotor so good we've done it twice or if you're fit you can walk to the fort way way up the hillside from the walled old town In Corfu if a lot of ships are in taxis are very expensive in my opinion if you walk to the back of the car park towards the town you can get one cheaper but leave it til after the rush or if you're fit enough it's a good walk In Dubrovnik old town you can't pay with Euros but can pay by card for drinks etc It's approx 10€ for a taxi from the port and he will arrange to pick you up and bring you back
cruisinwhizz Posted September 16, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted September 16, 2017 Thanks PensionCruiser and VitalSign for the info - a taxi seems like the way to go to travel between Dubrovnik port and the Old Town.
