Tillylovesseabourn Posted September 7, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 7, 2017 Hi is Seabourn still using San Basilio as its cruise port, or have recent legislations in Venice/ size of newer ships changed this to another location? Thanks
Sunprince Posted September 7, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2017 I don't think so. In August I believe, the main Venice terminal was used by Seabourn. I only know this having checked Marine traffic. Markham disembarked in Venice so perhaps can confirm. Sent from my iPad using Forums

markham Posted September 8, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2017 Markham disembark in Venice on 19 Aug at the Venice Passenger Terminal. We were at the narrow end of the pier with 6 huge MSC and Royal Caribbean ships perpendicular to us facing the land. It was a Saturday and we were the third in the convoy of arriving ships with the ones behind us rolling in in 20 minute intervals. Kinda like an airport scene and depressing when we were considering our prospects at 8:00 in the Colonnade and Seabourn Square to make our 9:50 train from Venice. So how the did the Ody crew handle that? Very well, indeed! I have never seen such coordination on pierside where Stratos the HM was in charge after we said goodbye to Capt Bathgate. There I saw Jan, the CD, David, the F&B manager, and Ali the Restaurant Manager at various pier side locations with walky talkies directing us towards shuttle buses and filling them up, one after another in 5 minute intervals to take us past a couple of these multi-thousand behemoths to the terminal where Murat, the pretty South African blonde and others from the Tours Department directed us to our luggage. In our particular case a Seabourn-appointed agent walked us from there another 50-100 meters to the water taxi stand where we waited maybe 15 minutes among 50 or so people for our private water taxi to our destination- the St Lucia train station. That water taxi took about 10 minutes. So this was one of the best organized disembarkations we have had, especially so when we expected much less, and we saw how "on your own" the mass market lines people were circulating about. No, that is not Seabourn and so is a tribute to the above-mentioned officers and crew! That's a memory about coordination that worked so so well and ensured we made our 9:50 train to Milan with 20 minutes to spare. Happy and healthy sailing!
