UK cruisers - can we upgrade before payment due?

I'm due to pay for my Oasis cruise on Monday for the 3rd of December and I see that my cabin type (inside Q) has gone more expensive than a large inside.

I asked my TA if I could upgrade and how much. She told I'd really need to wait till I was on the ship as the prices I see are for new customers.

I have just been on the RCI website and I can get an inside K for £2 more per person. I've even had a look at a Guaranteed Neighbourhood balcony for £100 more per person.

Should I wait till I got on board or try my TA again before I pay?

I'd try the TA again, because every time we get onboard there is a sign at Guest Services that says "No upgrades available".

She's told me that it goes to 'standard price' and I will lose my offers. The only offer I got was £50pp OBC. Don't think I'll miss that much! [emoji57]

I'm not totally familiar with UK booking rules, but it sounds like they are enforcing the "new bookings only" provision and won't give you any perks associated with the current price of the stateroom you would like to have.

You'd lose your deposit and any "benefits" as it would effectively be a cancellation and a re-book. Bear in mind the actual deposit you've paid isn't necessarily the total non cancellable deposit. We only paid £50 deposit each but our paperwork said that if we cancelled we would have had to pay another £100 each.

I paid £50 deposit on our cruise. Couple of weeks later I saw the same category cabin cheaper with $100 obc. I cancelled original booking (lost the deposit for 2 of us) booked the new price. Saved Money and got more obc. The person I spoke to at RCI said that the paperwork would say I would have to pay extra because we cancelled but it wouldn't apply and would be cancelled and only the deposit paid would be lost. She was right, we lost just the £50 but more than made up for it with the new booking.

I'd give them a ring, nothing ventured nothing gained

We had to pay £150 deposit each. I only paid £75 as I had a future cruise credit on board. But my friend has paid the full £150.

In a Neighbourhood balcony, do we get free soda packages?

I think that your main problem will be that you have booked with a TA so RCL won't talk to you.

I've found in the past that most UK ta's will stick to the booking conditions and won't push for anything. If I book direct I can call directly myself and sometimes get an agent who will 'bend' the rules to get me a better outcome.

To answer your question, I think a Broadwalk balcony gets the soda package, a Central Park balcony gets the bottle of wine and meal in a speciality restaurant.

Hi Julie. Please tell me if this link works in the UK: https://secure.royalcaribbean.com/cruise-deals/offers/eat-drink-play?icid=t_drnk_tctclp_tdr_hm_cntntr_8490.

Hi Bob,

no, it just diverts to the UK home page. I've just searched 'eat, drink, play' on the UK site and nothing is coming up. I'll see if I can find something,

The only mention I can find on the UK site is here

You need to scroll down,

OK, so for some reason the link I've just copied doesn't seem to work, so this is what it says

Eat, Drink, Play benefits for Balcony Staterooms overlooking Central Park and the Boardwalk

From November 2016, families holidaying on Harmony of the Seas – and staying in Balcony Staterooms overlooking the Central Park or Boardwalk – will be treated to a range of benefits. Not only will Central Park guests have great views of the lush, tropical park below, but they’ll get to enjoy a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival, lunch for two at Jamie’s Italian and special perks in the Casino Royale, so you can relax while the kids are at our onboard kid’s club. Boardwalk guests will look out over the nostalgic neighbourhood, and will receive lunch or dinner for four at Johnny Rockets and a private session on our 38-foot-tall RockWall.

I get "page not found" with that link.

Try this one: http://creative.rccl.com/Sales/Royal/Oasis/16050977_EAT_DRINK_PLAY_Trade_Flyer.pdf

I spoke to RCI. They told me that because I booked with a future cruise certificate I would be able to change my booking without a fee. But because I booked with a TA my TA has to contact RCI to try to change it.

My cruise is now £400 cheaper today for a Guaranteed Balcony.

Hope they can change it.
