claireruth Posted September 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 18, 2017 My kids (ages 8 and 11) have a fall break from school the week of Halloween. We were going to go to Disneyland, but now we're thinking about a cruse instead. I wondered if there are any activities on cruise ships for Halloween? Is there any kind of trick-or-treating on board? LOL...it's kind of silly that's my hesitation of going on a cruise then, but I don't want them to miss out!
Rare Essiesmom Posted September 18, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 18, 2017 Yes indeed. My only experiences are Carnival and Celebrity. Yes, they decorate, yes, people bring and wear costumes. There are contests for the best costumes. Kids go Trick or Treating. There is a parade. EM
mikesteg Posted September 21, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Yes, in the old days... :D they actually used to do Halloween for several weeks prior to the date. Now it seems to be just "cruises that cover October 31"... mostly... per the blog: https://johnhealdsblog.com/ That content may change so I'll copy in the relevant bits: CelebratingHalloween on a Carnival shipis seriously fun. On the cruises that cover October 31 you will find Carnival puts a massive effort into our Halloween festivities. Each ship has decorations and skulls and scary spiders and enough candy to ensure every kid who sails will have a chance to get the biggest of sugar rushes. So from the Carnival Vista to the Carnival Fantasy, here is what the ships will be planning for the 31st of October 2018. Camp Ocean Trick or Treat Hunt Adult Costume Party – we encourage everyone to dress up and enjoy the Halloween Carnival Fun Halloween Dance Party Specific Movies for Halloween to be shown on the ships TVs including Dive In Movie Big Screens The ships will be decorated in selected lounges on board The Photo Department will have a special backdrop – along with photographers capturing some of the festivities Casino – Witching Hour Tournament Food Activities – Pumpkin Carving Contest / Halloween Desserts But, if you're on Imagination: And if you are lucky enough to be sailing on theCarnival Imaginationin October, anytime in October, do I have brilliant news for you. From Oct. 1-31, guests on the Carnival Imagination’s three and four-day Baja cruises from Long Beach will enjoy a host of fun Halloween-themed activities, everything from costume contests and dance parties to bone-chilling story time with s’mores and warm cider. Guests can also get creeped out at the Halloween parade and enjoy pumpkin-carving demonstrations, arts and crafts classes, and classic horror movies on the big screen. It all culminates, of course, with trick-or-treating for kids and adults alike along the Promenade. Carnival Imagination will be in full “haunted ship” mode with an elaborate “spooky tree” in the atrium and team members decked out in the scariest of costumes while leading Thriller dance classes and other frightfully fun activities. It’s a brilliant time to bring the entire family on a cruise to celebrate Carnival’s Halloween fun together. Kids on board our ships will be doing trick or treating but it’s organised and structured. No knocking on cabin doors and no tricking allowed (actually that last part sounds boring). Cruise>Work Posted September 22, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2017 I can only speak to Halloween on Disney Fantasy, sailed a couple of years ago, lots of decorations in common area, the core characters (Mickey, etc but not the princesses as I recall) have Halloween versions of their costumes. There was a big party that was Halloween themed in the main atrium one evening. Lots of kids and a fair number of adults did costumes. Trick or treating was kind of limited and my daughter (9 at the time) thought that part was a let down. Overall we thought it was fun but would not go out of our way to book the Halloween sailing just for the Halloween component.
CarolinaGirl2010 Posted September 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 29, 2017 We were on the Carnival Magic last Halloween. So much fun. My husband and I wore costumes, there was a huge party, decorations everywhere, even SCARY cake for dessert. They did have kids activities and trick or treating. micheecruise Posted October 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2017 We were on a Halloween cruise a few years back (Carnival Liberty). They had an adult costume contest, and also a time where everyone in costume was parading back and forth on the Promenade deck. For the kiddos...they had a Halloween scavenger hunt, and trick or treating. We all wore our costumes to dinner! It was a hoot!

I have never been experiencing a Hallowen cruise. I remember that my friend with her husband and children were celebrating a Halloween cruise but was so disappointed :( I have to check which cruise it was.
