dr__dawggy Posted September 21, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2017 Another option is to take the train to Tigre and board a boat there., or to contact one of the smaller boat owners who offer day trips usually including a lunch on one of the islands in the Delta. mountaindog Posted October 13, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 13, 2017 Tigre is beatiful and a relax day close to the city. You can do just the navigation or you can explore more the north part of the city in that tour to learn about the history of that area before the navigation . That is what we did and we pass through the President House! There are many options to do other things there but is risky for the cruiseshipassengers for the time to embark so go to the classic. Is highly recommended to control the time by a private tour or a group tour but small. iancal Posted October 16, 2017 #10 Share Posted October 16, 2017 We did the trip while in BA. There were only 2 of us. It was fairly straighforward to do on our own. We took the local commuter train to the Tigre stop. Got off, selected our boat tour based on the reviews that we had read in Tripadvisor. There is a market, lots of stores, places sit and have a glass of wine etc.
Chairsin Posted October 17, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 17, 2017 Be warned that the poster Mountaindog is actually the tour guide Liz Andres desperate for business. (If you don’t believe me look at the history of her posts— everyone mentions Liz Andrea). She had s very poor reputation — friends used her and were not impressed. Buyer beware! airheadfan Posted October 17, 2017 #12 Share Posted October 17, 2017 We also did the train to Tigre and a river boat trip. Finding the train station was not too easy, but once you find the right building, walk up the non-functioning escalator (maybe fixed by now) through the used furniture stalls and then on to what was billed as the more luxurious of the two trains. It isn't luxury but clean and comfortable and goes closer to the coast than the other one. Tigre is sort of interesting, but a little too touristy - big casino, some sort of Chinatown amusement park and a bunch of restaurants. We took the river boat to the Gato Blanco restaurant - good food, huge price but you are in the middle of absolute nowhere so no choice. Was an interesting day, but if I had less time in Buenos Aires, I would have spent more time there with all the attractions. If you really want a trip through a delta, then go for it. Texas Duck Posted November 30, 2017 #15 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Four of us used Liz at liz2arg@yahoo.com this past Spring and could not have been happier. I highly recommend her. Because of some postings, I would add, we are not associated with Liz in any way. We are experienced travelers (having visited over 50 countries) and I do a great deal of due diligence. Based on our research, we did retrain the services of Liz. Prompt, knowledgeable, responsive, very clean and new van, etc. All the things I am looking for.
