Moparop Posted September 21, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2017 We are scheduled to go to Tortola on a cruise in January. I realize with the current situation there it's highly unlikely that the cruise port will be open. But, if for some reason they do have it up and running, our family would rather do a tour and eat our meals from locals rather than booking with the cruise line so all of our money goes directly into their economy. If you've done a private tour that you've loved, could you please tell me about it below. We are a family of 5 but are up for pretty much anything! Like I said, I get that we might not go this trip but maybe someone else going after me might like this list - or we could use it on a future cruise! blue_water Posted September 22, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2017 As I replied in your STT post, are you asking about private tours (for your group only)? Or independent tours that provide group tours and private charters for larger groups?
hladygirl Posted September 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2017 We booked a private boat for 8 of us with Ocean Magic Mitch to take us wherever we want for next fall cruise. Now not even sure if he still has a boat due to the hurricane. We will see.
nrexxma44 Posted December 2, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2017 I am also interested in a private tour or charter for my husband and I. We will be in Tortola on Jan 17...does anyone have any suggestions?
blue_water Posted December 3, 2017 #5 Share Posted December 3, 2017 A private charter for two will be expensive so I assume $ isn’t a concern. Check to see if their boat survived as most did not - http://www.oceanmagicmitch.com/

blue_water Posted December 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted December 4, 2017 A large number of charter and private boats were destroyed by Irma, and since January is so close for you nrexxma44 and moparop I’d suggest TTOL as a source since many owners are there. There is also a thread with info on businesses that have reopened - http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=bvi

We just found out today that we will be in St Maarten instead of Tortola - so a whole new port to research!
