cruise1804 Posted September 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2017 My family and I will be staying in a two bedroom Haven suite on the Epic in October. There will be 6 of us in the cabin, 3 adults and 3 children. Our 16 year old son will be on the sofa bed in the living room and I would like to ask the steward if it would be possible to put the bed away in the day and just make it up again at night? Would this be rude to ask him to keep doing this? I'm only asking as I feel it would give us more room in the day. But obviously if it is a bit of a faff to keep getting them to do won't ask. We have always had ajoining cabins before so kids had there own room...However this time travelling with my Mum whom I will be shearing main bedroom with. Thank you for any replies. TYSONBOXER Posted September 23, 2017 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Absolutely not. We were in the aft penthouse with 2 adults and 2 children and asked the steward to make up bed everyday and had no problem. But we did tip him nicely at the end of the cruise. gma_pat Posted September 23, 2017 #3 Share Posted September 23, 2017 In our experience, we did not have to ask to have the beds put away - rather had to ask if we did not want them put away during the day.
Rare BirdTravels Posted September 23, 2017 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2017 (edited) No problem at all. Let your room steward and butler know exactly what you want and they will ensure your cruise is effortless. We had a forward facing 2 BR after her dry dock and enjoyed it! Cafedumonde Posted September 23, 2017 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2017 We do regular balcony and they did this for us without asking. So not rude at all.
Two Wheels Only Posted September 23, 2017 #6 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Putting the sofa-bed away and turning it into a sofa in the morning then back into a sofa-bed in the evening is the normal standard operating procedure for every stateroom category. It's no problem to ask for it to be put away or to be left as a bed.
cruise1804 Posted September 23, 2017 Author #7 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Thank you all for your kind replies. Wow BirdTravels those photos are amazing! Feel better now asking.....should I email that request through or just mention it when we board?
Two Wheels Only Posted September 23, 2017 #8 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Feel better now asking.....should I email that request through or just mention it when we board? You can do either (or both) but waiting and speaking directly to the steward would be better. Misself Posted September 23, 2017 #9 Share Posted September 23, 2017 I've never been in a suite but from experience when we've had 3 in cabin we had to specifically ask them NOT to turn bed back into sofa during the day. We all wanted our pre dinner naps
DMH15 Posted September 23, 2017 #10 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Come to think of it we were in the DOS on epic in March and we never asked either way. They put it up nicely to be a sofa during the day and made it into a bed at night. They did ask us if the bed should be made for one or two and we opted to do the bed for one. cruise1804 Posted September 23, 2017 Author #14 Share Posted September 23, 2017 Also another question......Does the sofa turn into a double bed? And this may sound strange but the sofa looks as if it's leather... would it not be slippery to sleep on? ...Sorry that sounds bizarre but could see my 16 year old flying right off!!!! Two Wheels Only Posted September 23, 2017 #15 Share Posted September 23, 2017 .. would it not be slippery to sleep on? The steward will put sheets/blanket on the sofa-bed. No worries. (y)
garycarla Posted September 25, 2017 #16 Share Posted September 25, 2017 There is no reason to email or call in advance. 1) There is only once person this impacts - the cabin steward for your room on your cruise. (they change) and 2 ) They automatically do it anyways. and 3 ) You might get up and get tired of looking at it in the morning and fold it up yourself anyways. LOL! (when we get up... we often even make up the Master Bed anyways vs waiting for the steward.

I don't think they tear the sheets off of it each time they put it away. Probably just the blanket and pillow are removed. So it probably isn't as big of a deal to put away as you're envisioning. :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
