Pacific Dawn cruise from Brisbane

Recommended Posts

We have just returned from a week's cruise on the Pacific Dawn. We were interested to note that at Portside they were enforcing the check-in times. We had selected 10.30am. By the time we had queued to drop our check-in luggage, it was 10.45 when we joined the check-in queue outside the door to the terminal. We were immediately ushered through, but those with the 11am time-slot were asked to wait. Those with 11.30 were asked to sit down in the shade. After check-in we had probably 20-30 minutes to wait before our embarkation group was called.

We were able to take advantage of a good price at short notice on this cruise. We enjoyed it, particularly the new friends we made.

This time we saw the production show "Seven" that couldn't be staged on our last P&O cruise because of bad weather. It is the best one they have. We didn't go to the others, not having enjoyed them when we saw them a few months ago. The CD Willie Lee does a great job and the cruise staff do also. Since our last cruise on the Pacific Dawn a few months ago, we noticed they have cut out one of the day-time trivia quizzes, and those they run sometimes have no prizes - not that most people do the quiz for the prize. Also, the 5.15pm quiz was part of a cruise-long trivia, with one prize at the end. The 9am trivia prize was a voucher for four people to have coffee and cake.

Last time I reported that the servings of food were very small, particularly the icecream that was the size of a large teaspoon. I am happy to report that the servings are now what we would call "normal". They must be using a larger scoop for the icecream and it is now about three-quarters normal size.

Well that is good to know. Usually Portside is pure bedlam with everyone lining up whenever they felt like it. No one was checking check-in times the last time we went on the Aria.
