Alaska59 Posted October 4, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2017 In order to get the reduced price for dinner in Chops or the Italian restaurant, do you have to prepay before the trip or can you just show up the first night for dinner and get that price? Alaska59 Posted October 4, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted October 4, 2017 What I am referring to is the "First Night Done Right" 50% off specialty offered day 1. An online pre booking choice.

njmomof2 Posted October 4, 2017 #5 Share Posted October 4, 2017 In order to get the FNDR special, you would have to purchase it in advance. Bob is correct when he says that there is no guarantee that they will offer a specific dining package on a sailing. There is always the possibility that when you board on the first day, and you're sitting around enjoying your first cocktail or beverage of choice, that someone may offer you a discount in a specialty restaurant on the first night. But again, it might not happen. If you see the FNDR offer on your cruise planner, and you want to eat in a specialty restaurant the first night for a reduced price, book it in advance. Hogbay Posted October 4, 2017 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2017 Bob is right again :) if they have say 100 chairs at the specialty restaurant and they sell 100 at FNDR sale there is no more to sell .
dplusd Posted October 4, 2017 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2017 I have not seen FNDR offered on board. Sometimes you can find a 20% off offer on the first day but no guarantee. It's a great offer (FNDR). Book it now before it goes away!
ladyflatlander Posted October 4, 2017 #8 Share Posted October 4, 2017 What I am referring to is the "First Night Done Right" 50% off specialty offered day 1. An online pre booking choice. W This offer has been on the last 6 cruises we have been on. The specific offer has been "book first or second night for a specialty restaurant and get second person free. On our recent transatlantic on Serenade we went to Chops on 2nd night. And did so on our January cruise also. You just need to make your reservation on the first day. You do not have to pay ahead of time, only when you have dinner
time4sun Posted October 5, 2017 #9 Share Posted October 5, 2017 On our upcoming cruise it says "starting at $15", and it allows me to choose a dining time but not the restaurant....how do we know what venue we are reserving?

internetwhiz Posted October 5, 2017 #11 Share Posted October 5, 2017 We have never had any problem changing. But we have never seen anything that says what "they" chose for us. As soon as we board, we go to our restaurant of choice, and make our reservation.

As soon as we board, we go to our restaurant of choice, and make our reservation. Same here...we have never received a notice of the first night restaurant chosen for us. Like you, we go to the restaurant when we board and make reservations for that night. Have never had a problem.
Alaska59 Posted October 5, 2017 Author #13 Share Posted October 5, 2017 Thank you for your input. I know sometimes the mystery dinner is the first night at the Italian restaurant so that may limit choices.
Pstreet12 Posted October 6, 2017 #14 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Our experience has been there is never a problem booking for 50% off for dinner the first or second night aboard ( we make the reservation the 1st night for the second night in order to minimize chances they will, in fact, not be able to accommodate us). We are Diamond + but when cruising with friends new to Royal, they were billed at 50% off as though we had all booked 1st Night Dine Right ahead of time on line. marci22 Posted October 6, 2017 #18 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Book now as it is a good deal. Try to make any changes as soon as you board. Our choices were limited as a party of 4 booking the 2 for $30 promo: we booked the 8:30pm seating and were assigned 9pm dinner times. We were able to change times and restaurants, but Chops was totally booked one night and we were limited to one time the other night. It may be easier if you are a party of 2. This was on Anthem. Ship and passenger mix will make results variable so make changes onboard right away.
Rare thrifty99 Posted October 6, 2017 #19 Share Posted October 6, 2017 Our first night done right on Allure this week offered us a choice of Giovanni’s or Samba Grill. We like the Samba (and had it reserved for later in the week) so we chose it.
OBX-Cruisers Posted October 6, 2017 #20 Share Posted October 6, 2017 I have two RCL cruises booked. One only has the BOGO offer and the other only has the FNDR offer. So it does appear to be very cruise specific. I do plan to book both for each cruise and agree that it is a very good deal compared to other packages. Thanks for the comments and suggestions Your Cruise Planner on Royal's website.
grapau27 Posted October 6, 2017 #21 Share Posted October 6, 2017 There is no guarantee that they will be selling any dining packages onboard. Just had an email off RC for our May cruise on Independence asking if we want to prebook excursions dining etc. The dining package was offered as 40% off specialty dining.
