tomko2 Posted February 16, 2009 #101 Share Posted February 16, 2009 We are Barcelona bound in November, anyone stayed at the Hotel Regina? Location? Will be there 5 days pre cruise, plan to see Monserrat, Las Ramblas, Parc Guell, the cathedrals and Mont Juic...any thing I am missing? How was your stay at the Hotel Regina? We are booked there for 2 nights in August (have asked for a higher floor and balcony). We only have two nights there and are hoping the location will be good for sightseeing -- especially the Butcher Market. Thank you. Kathy:)
lambs2 Posted February 16, 2009 #102 Share Posted February 16, 2009 We stayed there once before and it was just fine. We are booked again in Jan 2010 before our cruise from Barcelona to Dubai. It is a terrific location and who does stay in the room all day? We just stayed a few nights there after our 21 day cruise. Great little hotel! Loved the 24 hours included drinks and food! Our room was very clean - albeit furnished with plastic chairs (covered with upholstered covers - so tre-chic!;)) They have also very recently installed black out shades for the balcony room glass doors that roll down automatically with a button and they truly help cut down on noise and lights from Las Ramblas at night! brewster007 Posted March 4, 2009 #106 Share Posted March 4, 2009 Is it better to but your ticket for the HOHO bus prior to arriving in port or is it easier to buy it there. If I buy on-line I do not have to pay in Euros so I was just wondering what others have done that have bought tickets. Thanks Brewster
CathyCruises Posted March 4, 2009 #107 Share Posted March 4, 2009 Just bought them on board--no problem at all. Cathy

Thanks Brewster If you buy them on line you still have to go to their office to get the actual tickets. When we got them online we got a small discount. Either way, you'll enjoy the city. If I buy on-line I do not have to pay in Euros so I was just wondering what others have done that have bought tickets. Thanks Brewster It's pretty simple either way. We bought ours in advance since I wanted to have as many things paid for in advance as possible. I bought them on the website (US dollars), printed out the voucher & then presented the voucher on the bus. euro cruiser Posted February 4, 2010 #112 Share Posted February 4, 2010 Is it better to but your ticket for the HOHO bus prior to arriving in port or is it easier to buy it there. I think it's better not to waste your money on the HO-HO bus at all in Barcelona. There are several of them, but they are beyond crowded, the wait at the stops is often long and, when we were there this summer, many times a number of buses would go by before they had any empty space and could let someone on. After a frustrating day of this, we switched to using the public transit system (subways and buses), which took us all over the city quickly, easily and much less expensively than the HO-HO. xcomet Posted May 23, 2012 #113 Share Posted May 23, 2012 Anyone recently visited Monseratt and Black Madonna, that can tell me a good time of the day to visit? I have read on CC that the lines are two hours in the morning. Does anyone know when it closes? I am thinking perhaps we go late afternoon , when the crowds have thinned. Any help greatly appreciated. ( We are arriving on a friday July 13) pre cruise.
libby58 Posted June 3, 2012 #114 Share Posted June 3, 2012 The trains run at 36 minutes after the hour from Placa Espana and return just every hour also. We were there a week ago, and I think the last train leaves at 5.40 or thereabouts. The boys choir sings at 1 pm. There was quite a long line to see the Black Virgin, but I don't know how late the Basilica is open.
