twincheryl Posted October 19, 2017 #26 Share Posted October 19, 2017 Always better to use Uber/Lyft or a taxi instead of the hotel shuttle to the port. The number of people in Vancouver waiting for the hotel shuttle was just crazy. Front desk called a taxi and we were gone way before the shuttle even showed up! SG65CB Posted October 22, 2017 #27 Share Posted October 22, 2017 How early should we leave our hotel?? I think boarding starts at noon, so I was thinking of leaving at 11:00. Should at leave earlier than that? I'd leave at 10am and try to get to the cruise terminal by 10:30am. There will be a bunch of ships leaving from the port. At the port entrance gate they stop every car to check for cruise documents. The line to drive in to the port gets pretty long by 11:00. This is why Uber drivers don't like to go there, because unlike a regular taxi they only charge by distance, not by time. Shuttle buses have a separate entrance to the port and get in without waiting.
MisterCrispy Posted October 22, 2017 Author #28 Share Posted October 22, 2017 Thanks everyone for posting information! I think we will leave by 10:00 AM and try an UberXL and if we can't get one, we will call a taxi.
vyness Posted October 23, 2017 #29 Share Posted October 23, 2017 We used UBER XL to get from the port to the airport yesterday morning. We had 5 people and 6 pieces of luggage. Our driver showed up in about 4 minutes, and everything fit with room to spare. He had a Dodge van. This was my first Uber ride, so I used a coupon. The cost was only $17.01 (but I only paid $2.01 after the coupon). Fast, inexpensive, and effective. I would use Uber XL again in a heartbeat.
