skyfire53 Posted October 26, 2017 Author #76 Share Posted October 26, 2017 To funny! That wasn't the case, they were following the concarige and assumed I could take the elevator...when they realized I couldn't, it was too late for her to come back down Sent from my SM-G935P using Forums mobile app
skyfire53 Posted October 26, 2017 Author #77 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Something does not seem right about the post. I would not let a one time inconvenience ruin a 1 week cruise. My friends and family would not leave anyone behind unless they were someone they wanted to dodge. There are a few ;) Not enough substance behind the cruise comments to warrant much attention on CC I never said it ruined my whole cruise...I love it when people put words into my mouth...I enjoyed the cruise, just that the service wasn't what I was used to with NCL...I wasn't the only one on our cruise that said the same thing... darlene62 Posted October 26, 2017 #78 Share Posted October 26, 2017 Some of the comments have confused me a bit with the protocol and who handles what.....so I will share my experience. I was on the Breakaway out of NYC last year with my mom. She had some mobility issues, she had cancer and in hindsight I guess we knew this was her last vacation. We had a message night before that boarding would be delayed due to coast guard drills. Of course our bus got us to port extra early :). When we got to port we went to the "special needs" area because my mom needed a wheel chair. We were first arrivals and we were also tagged as haven. That was around 10 am. The drills of course lasted longer then expected but people had started to board and we were still waiting for someone to arrive with wheelchair. After almost 30 minutes after people started boarding I asked the very nice people at the special needs desk why nobody was picking us up. The told us even though Coast Guard had released the ship to board that many of the NCL staff that helps with the boarding were finishing duties with Coast Guard. So boarding was going on but CG was still on site. The special needs wait area is before the security screening. Finally after almost 2 hours of waiting NCL staff came with wheelchair and escorted us thru security. It was NCL staffers that took us thru security on boarding, customs and also NCL staffers that took us thru customs and to street to catch our bus when disembarking..Now although we had significant delays embarking the staff from customs and NCL were very nice and helpful. So yeah I am human I was irritated for delays.....but the staff from security , customs NCL were all very respectful and trying.
cooncat_mom Posted October 26, 2017 #79 Share Posted October 26, 2017 The people who work in the Miami terminal are employed by a company which has the contract from NCL to manage their check in, credit card / payment set up, ID checks, etc. It looks it might be Aramark based on the job ads for port positions. In any case, it is a company operating for NCL on an NCL contract. They're not Port Miami employees. Sent from my iPad using Forums

Sent from my SM-G935P using Forums mobile app I think you problem is the way you say things and what you expected. As I have said, we are about to travel with my husband who will be using his walker. We do not expect the whole world to stop because of this. We realize this is our problem and we will deal with it. I hope family members in our group will stay near us. If they don't we will be ok. NO, you didn't say the trip was ruined but you indicated it was and never posted any positives, only mentioned how you as a haven guest were treated when boarding. btw: on our last 2 NCL cruises, one on the Breakaway people with special needs were the frist to be boarder, then the suite guests.
