Rare KYBOB Posted October 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2017 Has anybody taken the Pack Creek bear viewing excursion from Princess in late May early June? And seen bears? The Pack Creek excursion is $610 per person and I am considering the Taku Lodge where it looks like they have two 'pet' bears that come to eat the sand after they grill the fish. So for the time of year we are going spend the bucks and go to Pack Creek?
Budget Queen Posted October 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted October 20, 2017 You have to look way further, and get to the details. Pack Creek- has an Alaska web site, with peak season listings, along with all your access information. BIG detail- your excursion is a fly in? AND you get off the plane into Pack Creek? Needs to be verified and make sure is listed on the tour. Alternatively- there are tours operating that don't. https://www.recreation.gov/permits/Pack_Creek_Bear_Viewing_Area/r/wildernessAreaDetails.do?page=detail&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72356 But, absolutely I would never consider this tour off peak, and you are way off peak. Sorry. Are you even able to book this tour? Sometimes tours are listed that end up not being even available- common with Glacier dog sledding as example. Rare KYBOB Posted October 29, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted October 29, 2017 Thanks for the info. yes it is a fly in. I would hate to pay that much and not see anything.
