Hi, I will be arriving at PA Bus Terminal for NCL cruise and need to get to 47th st cruise term. I know the distance is very short and not familiar with cabs. About what should i expect to pay and is there any additional charge for "bags", don't wanna be a hillbilly upon arrival.

Thanks

PABT is at between 42nd. & 40th Street, 8th. Ave. to 9th. Ave - 2 big city blocks, plan for exit from the depot/bus parking via the terminal carefully as there are more than 1 taxi stand. There are maps/guides inside for the varous exits. There will be plenty of taxis outside, 41st. Street is facing west (Hudson River) and driver can then turn north to the pier, it is a short trip and you don't need to get a scenic drive around the bus terminal.

There are no surcharges for bags/luggage in trunk or toll, nor weekend morning surcharges, etc. - it is metered taxi fares, about $10 - $12 at most + tips, especially if you ask the driver to drop you off at the corner of 12th Avenue & W. 48th Street (yellow taxi stand for disembarking cruise pax). Next 2 to 3 weekend, port is very busy with ships on Saturdays & especially Sundays, traffic do back up on side streets to turn for the on-ramp into the pier (that can translate into 10 to 20 minutes of engine idle time & the meter/clock continue to run).

Make sure the meter is ON and running as at the end of the trip, you pay the fare shown on it & keep that computerized receipt as your record/proof in case of any overcharges, dispute or need to file a complaint, etc. (Bonus: smartphone camera the displayed driver's "hack" license info & vehicle plate, if you think ... discretely, of course.)

Refuse anyone soliciting and offering a ride, regardless & keep your belongings with you at all times, mindful of nearby distractions - it's a big city, like everywhere else ... situational awareness is key.
