Area to stay in Orlando

We will be taking our first cruise in Jan. and plan on staying in Orlando for a couple of days before our cruise. We are in our sixties and hoping to do a little shopping,we will be using uber/lyft to get around or walking if possible. Can anyone suggest a hotel or area that has a Walmart and shopping mall close by?

Look at Lake Buena Vista, just north of WDW. International Drive is too busy for us.

I would look on International Drive close to Downtown Disney. We stayed at the Hilton directly across the street and it's a short walk with plenty of places to eat, shop, catch a movie, bowl, etc.
