My mistake. I mean embarkation. (Long day) Get there in the morning when boarding, bypass the "curb-side chcek in," etc.

Yup, just walk by the curb side check in for bags, then your bags will be scanned at the x Ray machine (double check they will fit) aling with everyone else's carry on. Then just hang into your bags until you can get to your room.

Wow, Carnival has replaced luggage? How did you manage that?Kind of OT, but I think the airlines are also so hard on luggage, wish carry one was easier, but some airlines even ask for more payment for a carryon. I remember the days when traveling was so much easier.

 

Showed guest services what luggage looked like when it was delivered. As I recall now they have replaced bag twice, once with wheel half off and once with a huge grease stain that they were not able to remove.

 

As a result we now buy relatively inexpensive rolling duffels that is harder to destroy with recessed wheels. Also lighter weight so we can travel with more stuff before reaching airline weight limit.

You should really try a test run to see if you can handle the suite cases, back packs and anything else you are taking off the ship. You have to go down the gang way, across to customs and then out

Can Diamond members carry luggage off at any time? We have a late flight and don't need to get off early.

We self debarked for the first time on our last cruise.

I just found a new must-do for my future sailings.

I don't mind waiting to get on the ship, but I do hate waiting to get off of it.

We do FTTF and carry all our luggage. We are in our cabin with all our stuff before noon on embarkation day and we are off within the first 30 minutes of the ship being cleared on debarkation day. Saves 2 or more hours of inconvenience on what are stressful travel days.

The 21" and 24" size you are quoting are the height of the luggage when standing up. Carnival gives measurements when the luggage is laying flat. You will need to measure your luggage to see if it is within the limits. The sizes are actually quite large.

 

"Each checked suit case and carry-on suit case should not weigh more than 50 pounds, and when lying flat, bags must not exceed 16 inches high by 24 inches wide (the length of the bag is not a factor). For security screening purposes, all luggage should be unlocked. Oversized luggage and locked luggage may cause delivery delays."

Anyone can carry off at any time.

 

I am gold and we always bring all of ours on and take off ourselves. (we have learned how to pack light) We are always one of the last off the ship--eat at buffet and then sit around on side of lido for last call.

 

Easy walk off--no lines...no looking for bags and no lines at customs/homeland security.

 

Highly recommend. (we always stay at a hotel the last day of cruise, so no need to be off any sooner)

We carried our luggage off for this first time, yes we had to take the stairs and no it was not that bad, we were in the car and headed home in no time. No lines for customs, the easiest debarkation we have ever done.

Only did this ONCE....took the escalator, what a joke...pretty well near fell down it with my carryon on my shoulder and my big suitcase! NEVER AGAIN! Well..unless I am in a hurry, which I never am....as we always stay in Florida at my brothers home for another week after the cruise .....

Mostly true, as a Diamond you will receive a letter in your cabin about debark. info. If you choose to self assist you can meet in a designated lounge/restaurant early on debark day. You will be escorted off the ship among the first PAX to exit. If you choose to go later you can leave at any time. Passengers who choose self assist without any priority, in theory, should wait until their deck is called for self assist.
