NoDayButToday Posted December 2, 2017 #376 Share Posted December 2, 2017 Well, actually Friends of Bill W. meetings are offered in the library. I'm on the other side of drinking now, and go to the meetings. :D Bobbi We usually do this either late at night or other times when the schedule tells us we are certain we won't be getting in the way of the Friends of Bill W meetings-we know that is their safe space at times and wouldn't ever want to get in the way of that. Even if we are just hanging out in there talking people seem to avoid the library if they see anyone. It's the weirdest phenomenon that doesn't seem to happen anywhere else on the ship! watermelonqueen99 Posted December 3, 2017 Author #382 Share Posted December 3, 2017 Saturday, November 4th, 2017, Final Day at Sea: We slept in until about 10:00, which was actually 9:00 with the time change. We decided to go to brunch again, and thankfully this time, the service was much quicker. However, this time they did not come around with the bread basket. My plate: C had the same, but with eggs: If you haven't noticed, we don't make the healthiest food choices while on vacation. (Once when we were in Colorado, we shared a weed candy bar and afterward we each ate a family sized bag of cheese puffs. We really do need full time adult supervision.) So, we also ordered mac and cheese to share (flavorless as always) and caramel cheesecake. The cheesecake was decent for Carnival standards: We left the dining room and, realizing that our vacation was drawing to a close and that soon we would have to work and parent again, we decided to drown our sorrows. We grabbed a couple drinks from the casino bar (casino was VERY crowded) and headed to the OP to play cards. To be continued....
watermelonqueen99 Posted December 3, 2017 Author #383 Share Posted December 3, 2017 Saturday, November 4th, 2017 Final Day at Sea Continued: After we played cards for a bit, we ended up watching the Speak Out game that the Fun Squad was hosting. That game grosses me out. If I wanna see a bunch of raggedy teeth and gums, I'll go to my family reunion. Blech .Eventually we made our way down to the lobby bar and had a couple of drinks. We tried to go to Groove for St. Jude, but it was way too crowded. We ended up grabbing another round of drinks from the lobby bar and took them back up to the OP. We sat them on our table and C wanted a salad, so we headed over to the Taste Bar to get one. (Salad bar had lots of options. Eggs, bacon bits, ham, cheeses, lots of dressings, turkey wraps, tortilla chips, pico. It's one of C's favorite places to eat on the ships. Only open on sea days though.) After C got his salad, we returned to our table to find that housekeeping had taken our BRAND NEW drinks. Needless to say, I was a tiny bit upset. You don't touch homegirl's alcohol. We went back down to the lobby to tell the bartender what happened, and after clearing it with his manager, he made us 2 new drinks without docking our Cheers. I wanted to kiss his face. We decided to attend the Q & Awesome with Chris the CD, so we headed to the theater. We got there just as the Clue reveal was going on. We both agreed that we wish we would have done it, it looked fun: The winner received a goody bag with games and stuff in it. We waited a few minutes before the Q & A began: We really enjoyed the Q & A. Chris is very personable and a good CD: Afterward, we went back to the room to do the inevitable packing. I wept as I put our things back into our suitcases, knowing it was going to be a long 6 months before we cruised again: To be continued...
watermelonqueen99 Posted December 4, 2017 Author #384 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Saturday, November 4th, 2017, Final Day at Sea Continued: After we were mostly packed, we got dressed and headed out for the evening. We grabbed our drink coupons and were excited that we would actually get 16 drinks today. (Yes, we are saving for future liver transplants.): We spent the evening hopping back and forth between the lobby bar, Alchemy, and the piano bar, saying goodbye and hugging on our bartenders and new friends we met. And, of course, striving for that goal: We ended up closing the evening at the piano bar, and it involved red feather boas, dancing with strangers, and other things we won't talk about. We got back to our room to discover a cute little towel heart and zone 27 luggage tags. (Actually, we had popped back in earlier in the evening and put our luggage tags on our bags and put them outside our door, but let's go with it.): I fell asleep, and dreamed that Carnival was so impressed with my drinking ability, they asked me to stay on the ship permanently as the new Booze Ambassador. watermelonqueen99 Posted December 4, 2017 Author #385 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I do want to throw these pics in. They were actually taken on Halloween night, with C's phone, so I forgot about them. The sunset was breathtaking that night, and these pics do no justice. By far one of our favorite parts of cruising: To be continued...

watermelonqueen99 Posted December 4, 2017 Author #387 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Sunday, November 5th,, 2017, Debarkation Day: We were on Lido by 7:30, waiting to get off the ship. We grabbed some food, but I just picked at it because I knew we were going to have lunch in NOLA; Our zone was called around 8:30. It took FOREVER to get down the gangway. Customs was a breeze. You no longer fill out the customs form. They just ask you if you have alcohol, tobacco, etc and how much. They briefly looked at our passports and ushered us along. The loading area was CHAOS. The Fulton shuttle wasn't marked "Fulton", so we were kinda lost. The shuttle to get back to Fulton is marked "Parking Management Services." It was about an hour from the time our zone was called to when we arrived back at our car. We headed for the French Quarter, where we were going to have lunch at a place that I had read rave reviews about online: Central Grocery. Supposedly one of the best muffuletta sandwiches in NOLA. We literally drove around for an hour looking for a parking space. We finally found a parking lot where you pay to park and made our way to Central Grocery: Seating area: We shared a muff (wasn't the first time) and a bag of chips: A closer look: My opinion: it was okay, but certainly didn't live up to the hype. And SUPER SALTY. To be continued......
watermelonqueen99 Posted December 4, 2017 Author #388 Share Posted December 4, 2017 After we were done eating, we walked around for a little bit. We wandered into a souvenir shop to pick up a shot glass and magnet. I tell ya, NOLA is a city like no other. You can buy things there you just can't get anywhere else. I was able to complete all of my Christmas shopping right there in the FQ. My mom and grandma are gonna love their gifts this year: It doesn't get much classier than boob bead necklaces, and I can't wait to wear the one I bought to our annual Christmas party. Talk about glamour: I don't know W T F spotted dick is, but I hope they went to their doc to get some penicillin: To be continued....

casinostreer Posted December 4, 2017 #390 Share Posted December 4, 2017 ] Anyway, now that my little secret is out, let's talk about my writing. If you're not familiar with my review style, consider yourself lucky. It's not appropriate for women, children, small animals, men of the cloth, virgins, people who wear sweater vests, or really anybody with any decency or intelligence. If you're still here after reading that, shame on you. Also, we should be friends. You're my new spirit animal. I shall channel you often through my first Carnival cruise in January. I too love to offend small animals and men of the cloth!

Ralphinsc Posted December 4, 2017 #392 Share Posted December 4, 2017 This has been a great review. I feel I need a cigarette and detox. LOL! I agree on the muffulettas from Central Grocery. I want to like them so badly, but they are just too damn salty. I'll still order one and eat it, but I think they could be a bit better. Those end posts remind me that I need to get back to New Orleans soon. There's a seven year statutory limit for charges, right? I think I might be in the clear now. lol
Central Oregon Gal Posted December 4, 2017 #393 Share Posted December 4, 2017 I can't wait for you to sail again - I started with you on day 1 - as I will be sailing the Dream in Oct of 18 and love to see and hear what others love prior to going - that way I can avoid the pit falls - and you are right 15 is the goal - however we do tend to cheat and add an additional bottle in our room for emergencies - gearing up to sail with the old folks on Royal in a 40 or so days - at least there is no limit on drinks - and our ship will be full of Elvis impersonators - should be a fun trip to come up with some drinking games. Thank you so much for the laughs, the pictures, and taking us along for the ride.

AtticusandArella Posted December 4, 2017 #395 Share Posted December 4, 2017 Thank you so much for the review. Couple of questions, 1. Is the smoking area on Lido deck on port side or starboard side? 2. Seems like you are frequent in cozumel, do you have any recommendation for restaurant around the Port area for a good seafood platter that will not cost me a whole paycheck and actually taste good? 3. Have you ever visit Carlos and Charlie beach club which is right next door to paradise beach? If you did, how was your experience? I have 2 little kids so tequila line is not attractive to me but it also mean less kids in the restaurant as well as in the water. Thank you
