watermelonqueen99 Posted November 28, 2017 Author #327 Share Posted November 28, 2017 Friday, November 3rd, 2017, Cozumel, Mexico Continued: Let's continue the tour of the ship by checking out where people spend hours donating hundreds of dollars to Carnival and getting nothing in return: Pretty standard slots. I could never bring my mom on a cruise, because she would spend all day, everyday in here, she'd drain her bank account, max out her credit cards, go bankrupt, (basically me every time I go to the liquor store) and then try to p*mp herself out on Lido to earn more money to keep playing. Then she'd have to move in with us, and that ain't happening: (On a side note, everything I've written thus far in this review, and CC decides "p*mp" is too much. Okay then.....) We don't really gamble much, I might play one or two slots or the blackjack machine once or twice all week, but C loves this quarter machine: These machines drive C completely mad. When we walk by it during the day, he starts talking smack to it and throwing punches. I have to hold him back and tell him he cannot get us detained, because I'm pretty sure there is no bar service in the ship jail: But who cares about all the machines, let's take a look at the most important part of the casino. It's so shiny and beautiful: To be continued....
watermelonqueen99 Posted November 28, 2017 Author #328 Share Posted November 28, 2017 Friday, November 3rd, 2017, Cozumel, Mexico continued: Now that we've gone broke, let's get the hell out of the casino: This is across from the FunHub: (I legitimately typed "porn hub" and had to change it. There's no hope for me, but ya'll keep going.) Trying to use the FunHub computers makes AOL dial-up circa 1995 seem fast: The free sites you can access if you have 4 hours to wait for them to load: The internet packages available: To be continued... watermelonqueen99 Posted November 28, 2017 Author #329 Share Posted November 28, 2017 Friday, November 3rd, 2017, Cozumel Mexico Continued: (I'm getting really tired of typing that, by the way. At this rate, we'll be in Cozumel for 2 years. (Please lawd, don't let Trump build that damn wall because I don't know how we'd get back in. We'd be stuck in Mexico, and my Spanish is limited to the 3 words I remember from 6th grade, and what I learned from Sesame Street and Dora the Explorer.) Anyway, I don't drink coffee or milkshakes, but if you do, this is where you can get them: Our favorite area on any Dream class ship is the Ocean Plaza. Plenty of comfy seating, live music (when it's good) and a bar nearby: The Taste Bar is also in the Ocean Plaza. This is where every night, you can get a fried ball of something and a soup: To be continued, as all the next pics go together...
ScottyZkaaayk Posted November 28, 2017 #330 Share Posted November 28, 2017 The Taste Bar is also in the Ocean Plaza. This is where every night, you can get a fried ball of something and a soup: I don't know how true this is but I've also been told that they have continental breakfast here in the mornings if you're like me and just too lazy to go all the way to Lido for munchies when you wake up. watermelonqueen99 Posted November 29, 2017 Author #331 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Yes, that's true. It's basically the same stuff they serve on Lido.

watermelonqueen99 Posted November 29, 2017 Author #333 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Monday....... oh to hell with it, you know what day it is by now: Really wish Alchemy was located back near the piano bar like it is on the Freedom. It was just so loud. We met some good people here, though: My favorite Alchemy drink: I love the look of this new area they added off of Alchemy: Sorry for the lack of commentary. We had a family emergency (we realized we were out of booze and the liquor store closed at 9), so I'm a little distracted. To be continued... watermelonqueen99 Posted November 29, 2017 Author #334 Share Posted November 29, 2017 Groundhog Day Continued: Let me preface these next pics by saying that I don't care if you offered me a free lifetime supply of vodka, my ass ain't eating raw fish. I would rather do anything than eat sushi. Go to a Taylor Swift concert. Become an intern for Harvey Weinstein. Go hunting with Dick Cheney. Order a virgin drink. (shudder) But I'm not eating the rolled up carcass of Nemo. But, if you do enjoy eating cold dead fish, here's some pics of the Bonsai sushi place. These first few were taken when they were closed: Here are the tables set up when they were open: Not sure you'll be able to read it, but here's the menu at the table: To be continued...... efuzz Posted November 30, 2017 #337 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Friday, November 3rd, 2017, Cozumel, Mexico Continued:I stood here so long, trying to get a pic of all of the shows, that my buzz wore off. I'm basically a superhero without the fancy cape and cool boots. You're welcome: To be continued.... Understanding your stance on shows, have you and C participated in the Quest? I'm not allowed to discuss it, but it would be right up your alley, and I didn't mean that to sound as inappropriate, but if it does.... well. Either way, you need to give it a shot if you haven't. watermelonqueen99 Posted November 30, 2017 Author #341 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Oh FFS are we STILL in Cozumel?!: These next pictures make my heart hurt. Once upon a time, when we first started cruising with Carnival, the nightclub played good music. They played popular songs and remixes that people actually knew and loved to dance to. As a dance fitness fanatic and certified instructor, dancing is in my heart, soul, and blood. I'll get out on a dance floor and make Beyonce blush. But, much like the chocolates on our pillows, bathrobes in the closet, that cool "ding" sound when you board the ship, and my dignity, that is a thing of the past. But, here's some pics nonetheless. Right outside the entrance, this sign tells you who the DJ is and the theme for each night: Sorry this next pic is so blurry. These pics are looking toward the dance floor: Last year on the Dream, some poor girl spilled a brand new Appletini all over this bar right after the bartender handed it to her. I felt so bad for her.I wanted to hug her and tell her everything was gonna be okay. (That girl was me. I spilled my brand new Appletini. Thank the booze gods for the Cheers program.): We could get in a lot of trouble on these 70's Swingtown looking beds, so it's probably a good thing that the music sucks and we don't hang out here much: When you're bored with the nightclub (IE, after one song), you exit and you'll see the seating outside the piano bar: To be continued..... kcdancerkc Posted November 30, 2017 #343 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Hi! Love this review even though we are not taking this ship, booked for Valor....pitbull on sail away made you envious...lol  And booked for Magic, my question is What is it in particular that has turned you away from the nightclubs? Our MO Is to go to dance the night away at least 90% of the nights at sea....even though my avatar looks like a stripper....im not...lol...we met dancing in a club in 2003 and have been together since. My middle age is not my age in my head, so we nap then stay up and dance! Hopefully  I remember the club was rockin till wee hours on Sensation, Glory, but not Miracle....there the DJ sucked......I guess they all think their poo poo don’t stink, and play one fourth of the song and mix it into the next.....is it because this is the ADHD generation? Im in the mental health field so I can say this has got to be the problem! On HAL we were obviously the last to close the disco down because the DJ played good songs, complete songs till THREE am! And everybody with thier bed time curfews were long gone lol......Our last cruise in March on Princess closed at freakin 1:30....I didn’t sail to the ABC islands to take enough 5 hour energy drinks to walk the halls! The Sky was tiny but okay, the RC ship disco was okay, club-wise.....have to remind myself I am Resting and Recharging from taking care of my clients and my pets for several days. No emails, just eat, beach, nap, drink, sleep , repeat. That is the goal! Once on a Carnival ship, early on, they couldn’t take requests because some songs could not be played ........copyrighted? I don’t get it! We go dancing twice per month, and will do so till we cannot, or till the neuropathy kicks in😬 Boy I rambled....ooops...what was the question....oh yes...what is it that moved you from the DJ floor, to sitting on a bar-stool on the sea? Does C agree? Maybe we can impeach...um make waves....um petition the damn nightclubs on the ocean? What say you? It's okay....I know the back pain thing all to well....and sometimes you just can't stay focused for very long. I'll just jut out my lower lip....and wait like a good girl. Hope you feel better soon, but take it easy and stay off of that d%$m swing! Had a swing to or whatever description you want to give it. In the instructions it said hang a plant on the hook so it is less apparent. LMAO can we be friends? even if you were exaggerating. Who hangs a plant right above the bed? Does C agree? Maybe we can impeach...um make waves....um petition the damn nightclubs on the ocean? What say you? From one danceaholic to another ♥️ Our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cruises (2014, and twice in 2015) were on the Magic when she was still in Galveston. The nightclub was great. The music was well-known and the dance floor was always packed. Our 4th cruise was on the Freedom out of Galveston, and that's where we noticed a decline in the quality of music in the nightclub. There were a few songs that were recognizable, and that's about it. Less people on the dance floor. I remember C requesting Usher for me, and it was a song I was completely unfamiliar with, and I've been a fan of his since high school. Our 5th cruise on the Splendor out of Miami was the same way. I ended up talking to a crew member on Lido later than evening, and it came up that a buddy of his was the DJ. I told him how bad the music was, and he said they were now very limited in what they could play, so maybe that's the case, I don't know. Our cruises after that, the Freedom,(Galveston) and twice on the Dream, (NOLA) same issue. Unknown music resulting in an empty dance floor. I know I find in my dance fitness classes, that participants are much less responsive and enthusiastic to unknown/new music, and I've found that definitely carries over to the dance floor. I can see throwing in something obscure every now and then, but when 90% of the music has you asking WTH is this, it just isn't any fun for us. And yes, C wholeheartedly agrees that the music sucks. It really is a shame. But, hopefully you'll have a different experience! Oh, and normally, we make friends on those barstools at the other bars, and end up closing down the club with them. But all our new friends on our recent cruises have agreed the music sucks, and we end up going somewhere else to finish the night. Thanks for reading! watermelonqueen99 Posted November 30, 2017 Author #349 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Coz......eff it, I can't even type it anymore: I'm home this afternoon, so I'm gonna try to bust out the rest of Cozumel. It's wearing out it's welcome quicker than your Uncle Earl who always smells like Mad Dog 20/20, drives a 1972 Ford truck and insists on talking about religion and politics around the Thanksgiving table. Anyway, since we already looked around in the piano bar early on the review, we're gonna pass right on by and peek into The Song lounge. This is where karaoke was usually held: The bar located inside The Song: (We had a few drinks here later in the cruise. There was a nice bartender there named Eugene from Jamaica. But at one point during a fellow passenger's rendition of "I Will Survive", C informed me that I was bleeding profusely from both ears, so we took that as a sign to leave.) When you exit The Song, you'll see the lounge where the comedy shows are held. DJ Cooch was performing. (Not even I'm gonna go there, it's just too easy.): And also Caroline Picard: I can't comment on either because like I said before, we don't go to the shows. We enjoy the occasional professional comedian on land (Jim Gaffigan, Marlon Wayans, etc), but shows just aren't our thing on the ship. We did go to a comedy show once on a cruise after we met some new friends at the casino bar. I accidentally spilled a little tequila on the wife's arm, and she told me to lick it off so I did, and somehow, at some point, her and I ended up hand in hand on our way to the comedy show with the men following suit. I don't remember much else about that night. But that's a story for another place and another time. Don't judge. Anyway, un-clutch your pearls and stay tuned. We'll take a closer look at the lounge where these shows are held.
watermelonqueen99 Posted November 30, 2017 Author #350 Share Posted November 30, 2017 Not Even Gonna Bother: This is the entrance to the Burgundy Lounge, where the comedy shows are held. (Can't really remember what else, if anything, was held there, sorry.): The ceiling has these masks on them. Reminds me of the food court at our favorite resort to stay at in Disney World, Port Orleans French Quarter: There's a wall of masks along the side. It's probably a good thing we don't hang out here, I kinda feel like at the end of the night, (#15) I'd be trying to pick a fight with them for staring at me: To be continued...
