Ryanv Posted November 12, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 12, 2017 Quick question, i’ve never cruised with NCL and I’ve just gotten the option to bid on an upgrade from my balcony room to a mini suite. Based on the pictures on their websites, the two rooms don’t really look much different at all. Can anyone with any knowledge give me any pointers on if it’s worth it to put in a bid for an upgrade? Thank you!
cb at sea Posted November 12, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 12, 2017 I don't believe mini-suites get "suite" perks...so unless you simply want a slightly larger space, I wouldn't pay for it....if they GAVE it to me, I'd take it...
steelersfan4ever Posted November 16, 2017 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2017 We usually sail on carnival and tried NCL in March, the balcony cabins are much smaller on NCL than on Carnival.
jtdlmc Posted November 20, 2017 #4 Share Posted November 20, 2017 I also got the email to bid on a mini suite. Apparently the only difference is a tub in the washroom and a slightly longer couch. With the upgrade you have no say in location as it is unsold cabins, so basically ones nobody else wanted. If you choose your balcony for certain aspects - cabins above and below, close to stairs and certain amenities, you might be better off to stay where you are. BTW I called my PCC to inquire about the bidding process and he offered me a guarantee mini suite at no additional cost, which is exactly the same as the bidding - you are assigned a cabin from whatever are left over, my email had a minimum bid of $35/person.
