Going into the first lock. We are using the new locks and travel under ship's power with the help of two tugs.

No ropes, no mules, plenty of room on either side:

After a couple of hours, Freedom is ready to sail out of the third lock and into Gatun Lake:

Didn't see any interesting excursions for Cartagena so we stayed on the ship. Views on sail-away:

 

 

 

 

Oh man...we LOVED Cartagena! Well not the annoying vendors, but the city itself was fabulous. So much history. We didn’t do a Carnival excursion, but instead used Dora the Explorer, and she was great!

After an hour or so, Freedom turned around and headed out the way she came in. We could see other ships using the Gatan Lock close by:

Thanks for your review and the pictures were fantastic. We did the Panama Canal several years ago & we are doing this same cruise 1-19-19. Really looking forward to it.
