westcoastcruiser Posted November 20, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 20, 2017 we are looking at booking a cabin on deck 7 near the bow of the ship. Usually we like aft cabins but not an option on this class of ship so instead considering BQ on the starboard side. We figure those cabins will not have a lot of people traffic passing the room. We are concerned with midship cabins/location as there seems to be a lot of unmarked space in the middle of the ship and we are concerned about crew doors. On one of our HAL cruises our cabin was near one of the crew access doors and for almost 18 hours a day that door slammed shut. My husband is a light sleeper so prefer less traffic and a quieter location...after all, it is a vacation! Live and learn! Not sure what is forward from the BQ cabins on the starboard side though either. Any input, guidance, experience in helping us decide will be appreciated. catl331 Posted November 20, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 20, 2017 (edited) Not sure what is forward from the BQ cabins on the starboard side though either. The deck plans show the area divided into cabin-sized boxes, so my guess would be officer's cabins. And I would guess there's a door very close to BQ101 that is marked "crew only".https://www.hollandamerica.com/assets/deckplans/ma_2.pdf On the Veendam those spaces have been converted to passenger VQ cabins, reinforcing my belief that they are officer cabins on the Maasdam https://www.hollandamerica.com/assets/deckplans/ve_2.pdf Edited November 20, 2017 by catl331
