hangfive Posted November 23, 2017 #1 Share Posted November 23, 2017 What is the coverage like for voom internet on transpacific cruises, Sydney to Honolulu or vice versa? Specifically Radiance of the Seas, which sails via Tahiti.
Biker19 Posted November 24, 2017 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2017 It should work all the time, but outages can happen at any time. Realize that Radiance still has the old system, so performance will be rather slow.
Seenie Posted June 1, 2018 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2018 My advice to anyone thinking of buying VOOM is: don't don't buy the package until you have tried it out onboard for a couple of days. The pre-sailing discount isn't worth the risk. See my post about VOOM on my recent TA.
Beachin2 Posted June 1, 2018 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Except for a few hours near the equator it worked well a few weeks ago on the entire Explorer Sydney to Seattle cruise, but EX has the updated system. That should affect speed more than satellite lock though.

Beachin2 Posted June 1, 2018 #6 Share Posted June 1, 2018 No, it doesn't. Guess the IT officer on board was misinformed about his equipment.
Biker19 Posted June 1, 2018 #7 Share Posted June 1, 2018 Guess the IT officer on board was misinformed about his equipment. Maybe he meant the ship was updated to VOOM - which all ships have, as of May 2015. Not all VOOM is the same. In his defense, network traffic is typically controlled from Miami and updates/upgrades of BW are sometimes not under the ship's control.
