KDance Posted December 1, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2017 Does anyone know what a $1 charge would be for in various bars? I have the ultimate/deluxe package. I don’t believe I ever went above $12 a drink which is the max. K :)

bluecruisin Posted December 1, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2017 Did you add an extra tip?
clarky213 Posted December 1, 2017 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2017 If it was $1 over the limit, it would be $1.18 inc gratuity. Looks more like a tip added on to your bill.

Ocean Dancer Posted December 1, 2017 #6 Share Posted December 1, 2017 Makes sense, thanks! But if you did not authorize it, it seems fishy.

happy cruiser1234 Posted December 1, 2017 #8 Share Posted December 1, 2017 I remember last year around this time Royal started to raise the price of drinks by $1-$2 until the Holiday sailings were done. I was on Freedom last December and it happened a few times.

The drink package should be price protected.

Royal has been known to have "dynamic" pricing on lots of things over the holiday season.
Wine-O Posted December 2, 2017 #11 Share Posted December 2, 2017 That's all I can think of, they thought you went over the limit. I've gone over the limit for some wines when I had the drink package last month on Freedom, but they told me ahead of time when they took my seapass. I did not pay any extra gratuity on the $2-3 over the limit.

hootowlrn Posted December 2, 2017 #13 Share Posted December 2, 2017 We had $1 added to our bill twice last cruise. When I was at guest services about something else I inquired about it. I was told that I was the tip we added on. We had not added a tip. He pulled the ticket and $1 tip was written in...not our handwriting. Both tickets were the same server. They took the tips off. rojoand8 Posted December 2, 2017 #14 Share Posted December 2, 2017 Were you in port when it was charged? If I’m not mistaken some ports have an added fee on drinks. I may be completely wacky on this, but it’s something I remember from our cruise last year on the Escape while still in Miami. That is why with any slip, I put a slash through the tip area, and write in the total. A bit harder for the server to change it.

I really don’t understand why RCCL tolerates this. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

It's true that Royal adds US state sales tax to drinks purchased singly while in a US port. However, they do not add that tax to drinks covered by an unlimited beverage package.
