Advantages of booking next cruise onboard

You do get extra for booking on board. If you use a TA they will ask if you want the booking to go the TA when they are making your new reservation. Do your homework ahead of time. Research what cruises you are interested in and then let them give you the prices and offers associated with those cruises. Then book. You normally get the booking for $200.00 deposit and it is refundable.(or you can have the $200 put on your OBC on your current cruise and use the money now). Also you can change the cruise to another one at anytime before final payment. On our last cruise we booked a 10 hawaii to vancouver, then later decided to change it to a 15 panama canal San Diego to Ft Lauderdale, then last week changed it to 15 round trip LA to Hawaii. They run specials, so all or none of the info provided will apply.

Would it be worth our while speaking to the cruise team about booking our next cruise whilst on the ship? That is to say, would you be more eligible for extra offers or savings or is it better to go through a travel agent?

You will get a reduced deposit and additional OBC for booking on board. Be advised that if you decide to switch to another cruise, you may forfeit any promotional perks and be subject to those currently in effect if you change your reservation. Not a big deal but you should be aware of that possibility.

The OP may not be from the US so advice regarding the refundable deposits may not apply. Similarly advice about changing the booking to a new sail date also could be wrong for the OP. But being charged a reduced deposit and getting extra OBC for booking on board apparently applies no matter where one lives.

Our future cruise booking made onboard , came with a drinks package and $300 onboard spend. There was also $200 onboard spend that could be used either on the current cruise or on the new booking. We chose the latter. We also paid the reduced deposit which was the equivalent of $200 ( we are UK cruisers ). A few weeks ago I saw the same cruise at a lower price with the drinks package included. As our reservation had been transferred to our TA we asked them to call Celebrity to change to the latest offer as the price difference was considerably more than the $300 OBC we would lose at it was no longer part of the offer. The answer was that we could do this but would also lose our deposits. The crazy thing was that we could change to a different cruise without losing our deposits. In the end we did that and kept the $ 200 OBC for booking onboard and paid considerably less for the cruise still including the drinks package. This isn't clearly explained by the future cruises team onboard.
