OneParticularHarbour 71 Posted December 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2017 If I may also ask a casino question...When we were on Divina earlier this year, the casino was non smoking. Is the casino on Seaside non smoking? Also, does anyone know if the minimum age is 18 or 21?
Cruiser21 Posted December 28, 2017 Author #4 Share Posted December 28, 2017 I thought they were trying to appeal to the north american passengers with this ship? Craps tables are staples in casinos.

JAGR Posted October 5, 2018 #10 Share Posted October 5, 2018 It is divided into smoking and non-smoking. There is no smoking on the side with table games (happy dealers!), but smoking is allowed on the side that has most of the slot machines. I thought it was a good compromise. I must say I'm very surprised to read this, John, what with Seaside being a US-based ship. I don't remember reading too many complaints about it, either. Whether I just missed them or it hasn't been too much of an issue, I don't know. It'll be interesting to see if smoking will be permitted in the casino on Armonia next January. DH enjoys a smoke (or 3) while I play (get robbed by) the slots
JAGR Posted October 5, 2018 #12 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Prior to launch, it was advertised as going to be non-smoking entirely. That changed very quickly in early 2018, with the compromise being to isolate the smoking to one side. No matter what you do, you are going to disappoint some one or some group. I talked with a casino supervisor, and she said the decision to make the side with the tables (and a few slots) non-smoking was that a table player could get up for a hand or two and have a smoke, while the slot player would be reluctant to leave a machine. The reasoning made sense to me. I know someone who was on a few weeks said the division of smoking and non-smoking was still in effect. JAGR Posted October 5, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 5, 2018 And American-based cruises would be better suited to non-smoking. Her smokers are about 15-6% of adult population, and in Europe it would probably be closer to 30%.

Americans were a very small percentage of the passengers. 20% tops. Was told the passengers were 65% European. I don't think MSC is pushing too hard for americans. spiritkat090909 Posted October 7, 2018 #17 Share Posted October 7, 2018 Table minimums last week were $10. The casino is small for this size ship and English is the official language in at the non-smoking tables. If they are trying to appeal to the casino income, they have a LONG way to go to catch up. From what I experienced, serious players will be disappointed. Your average after dinner/show play for an hour player will be fine contributing their $100 to the bottom line, if it lasts more than 15 mins. Payouts tighter than you have ever seen/heard. Unbelievably so. Every cruise line I've been on (NCL, CCL, RCL, CEL) that has a real casino club offering is leagues ahead in terms of benefits and game offerings. I don't see them being able to catch up for a couple of years. The 30% off with 2500 (?) points sounds great on the surface. You can see your point earnings in the machines easily, table games are rated well & more than video poker.... but, if your main entertainment on board the ship is the casino, it will not compare to other lines. OTOH if you spend about $2000 on video poker, depending on the time of year, the savings on a YC room could put you at break even.
markf Posted October 7, 2018 #18 Share Posted October 7, 2018 I agree with last post--we had 30% off this past cruise and got another voucher--but losses exceeded the 30% savings--I did see some jackpots on Quick Hit game 8 for 3,0000 and some others but I was there at least 2-3 hours each day and never had a winning day
