ID for 16 year old???

Quick question...

 

My son just turned 16 a few days ago. Doesn't have a driver's license yet.

 

 

Will his school ID suffice for "legal ID"? He has a valid passport.

 

We are on Paradise (Catalina and Ensenada).

My son is also 16. Here in NC, I took him to the local drivers license office (with the proper documentation) and he was issued a state ID. It looks just like a license, but it is an official form of ID accepted by Carnival when we sailed last Sept.
