HUB APP and Group Chat

HI There - I am leading a group of 45 on Carnival next week. We want to get the hub app as it is a great way for us to connect. Is there a way for you to send group messages? Like send one message and all 45 people in the group can get it?

I think you know what I mean. I cannot find any information on this, and carnival has not been helpful. Any first hand experience would be great.

Thanks!

David

We did group hats thru the Hub app on our two most recent cruises. We found it to be very useful in arranging meeting times and finding each other throughout the ship. But both cruises we used it on, we did experience some issues. There would be some delay in people getting messages. Or messages would come in out of order. Other times people would get dropped out of the group chat for no reason. But when it works, it's great!

Be advised that we did have a little trouble with it on Valor last winter. My FIL seemed to never get messages when he was in his room. To be fair though, he was all the way forward directly under the bridge. We think he was the farthest point from where it was centered and just didn’t reach him.

How much does it cost?

Everything except chat is free. Download prior to sailing from your app store. On board, enable chat by paying 5 dollars per device and that is good for the entire cruise. You and a partner would be 10 bucks total to chat back and forth on the HUB app. No other purchases necessary.

The best parts of that app are that you can see charges to your sign and sail through the app, and you can see the schedule of activities. If you favorite an activity the app will remind you about 1/2 hr before it starts. You can see what other people in your group favorite.

At the beginning of the cruise I favorite all of the casino drawings. I’ve won 4 casino drawings on the last two cruises. $150, $250, $150, and $450. All thanks to that app.

UMMMM what are the casino drawings? I'm unfamiliar with those but am always up for chances to win money!

I guess when you get to a Port, you will just turn off your airplane mode and you can use your cell phone and when back on the ship, turn back the airplane mode and I don’t have to pay the $5 again?

Usually you’ll need to be playing and they’ll pick a winner from those who are. Other times it’s based on points earned while playing slots or the tables. There is usually a drawing in the casino for a free cruise on the last night. Entries for that are based on points.

The best part is that there is no sales pitch before the drawings, unlike every other drawing on the ship.

You can log on and off of “the hub” at any time. It is a one time fee for chat, per cruise.
