Truffle Posted January 14, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2018 just wondered if we might need water shoes for Castaway Cay or is the bottom smooth and sandy? Thanks!
cruisefamilyforever Posted January 14, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2018 just wondered if we might need water shoes for Castaway Cay or is the bottom smooth and sandy? Thanks! Yes, especially the adult area. It is a very rocky bottom that will shred your feet. The kid area is sandy and OK.
Shmoo here Posted January 14, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2018 just wondered if we might need water shoes for Castaway Cay or is the bottom smooth and sandy? Thanks! I found the sand much rougher than it looks, both at Serenity Bay and on the Family beach. Particularly after you enter the water. Plus the walkways (concrete) can get pretty hot. moki'smommy Posted January 14, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2018 How rocky things are depends greatly on the tides--the time of day and time of year. However, water shoes are always a good idea. You'll need something on your feet as you walk to and from the beach are as well--the sand and sidewalks get very hot...so the water shoes can serve both functions. cyclenut Posted January 14, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2018 There are some rough rocks in places along Serenity Bay (adult beach) but once past them, I've been fine. It isn't a bad idea, but it is required either. Wife and I purchased a pair of Reebok water shoes that look a lot like sneakers that we use. They work great not only for the water but just for walking around. Hard to get the sand out of them though and they are a bit heavier in the water than the thin water shoes we've also tried that are really only good for the water. gometros Posted January 16, 2018 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2018 We wear the Vincere Sand Socks when we go to beaches that might be rough on our feet... I have sand socks that I use for beach ultimate, but can they be worn in the water?
