Perks for Groups?

Your TA gets GAP (group amenity points), the number will depend on the sailing date. The TA then chooses (some allow the guests to choose) what the GAP will get the group. Some of the RCCL choices are a bottle of champagne, casino vouchers, slippers, milk and cookies, and Adventure Ocean memorabilia. Different cruises get different number of GAP, depending on the popularity of the cruise. Some get none. If you booked through a TA, you will need to check with them. If you booked directly through RCCL, the group dept. can help you.

In addition, depending on the number of cabins and categories, some free "berths" are available. I think the rule of thumb is one berth for each 8 cabins based on which category has the most booked.

Example: You have 2 D1 balcony cabins, 4 Oceanview and 3 inside cabins booked in your group. After the cruise, there would be a refund/rebate of the cost (less taxes and port charges) of the equivalent of 1/2 of one oceanview. It would go to the person identified as the group coordinator, but you could do whatever you want with the money, such as split it among the entire group.

I'm not an agent, but I've asked the question several times, and this is the summary of what I've been told.

I have a friend who organizes a church group each year. They usually have about 20 cabins and get 2 berths. Al takes the refund and pays for the minister's cabin.

A friend of mine is organizing a group of 100 cabins. One of things not mentioned is a unlimited drink package. Added to the cruise package is a once price (say 100 per person) for unlimited drinks. This is not available for the regular package.

Do all cruise lines offer the unlimited drink package?

We have a group of 31 going on the Explorer in March, besided the 1 berth which we will split up between the 1st 8 cabins (that was the agreement of the ones starting up the group), our TA will be hosting a 1 hr cocktail party for us on the ship. I think she is using the GAP points since this came up after I called her about them. I had read about the point system here and was able to call find out how many were for our sailing. You better believe a call was made when I found out we were able to get 8 points (the highest avail I believe)and to see which perk she was going to get us!!:D

And everyone has to sign up for it. It's not done if only some of the group want it. (It would be a real waste of money for non-drinkers.)

Also, no RCI doesn't do this for any groups of less than (as I recall) 50 pax.

I have no idea if other cruise lines offer this. Every line has it's own amenities and rules.
