travellgirl Posted January 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 21, 2018 We are sailing on the Breakaway February 2. I have been doing some searching to see the available options for breakfast and lunch. I keep getting conflicting results. In addition to the buffet, MDR and O'Sheehan's, what are our options? We don't mind paying, but for example, the NCL site says the noodle bar is complimentary and other sites I have seen say there is a fee. Thanks for any information. long Island Posted January 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 21, 2018 If I remember correctly, Moderno’s has breakfast buffet in the morning .nobody knows about it so don’t tell anybody! Nice and quiet
Rare mking8288 Posted January 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 21, 2018 As a general rule, those 3 are open for lunch, unless it's a full port day where the MDR could close. Sometimes, they do a themed lunch special at Moderno free. Margaritaville has a simplified breakfast, free but lunch is $$. Shanghai Noodles is free but only for dinner on a walk-in basis, taking no reservations ... next to the casino, some not happy with the smoking. Then, there is room services, some being free. via Nexus 5X Oreo 8.0 w Tapatalk, VPN secured.

So, look at the NCL website and not random internet reviews with inaccurate information. The attached link provides the Freestyle dailies from a recent Breakaway cruise. It provides you an idea of what is open and when on sea and port days. On sea days, Monderno serves themed buffers. On most mornings, Margaritaville has a buffet (weather permitting). https://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2504449

Enjoyed reading the Freestyles and only asked because I know sometimes not everything on the cruise websites are necessarily always accurate either and asking recent cruisers sometimes get better answers. We have each night booked at a specialty restaurant and were curious what else was available for breakfast and lunch. Looking forward to our first NCL cruise. Thank you again. We have sailed for many, many years (back in the days when you had to reserve and pay for loungers on deck and gowns/tuxes were "mandatory"). And we really like the "Freestyle" relaxed atmosphere of NCL. No set dining times. Very relaxed dress codes. And all of the entertainment on the mega ships. The referenced link was our 3rd time on the Breakaway (16th cruise on an NCL megaship). Have a great time on the Breakaway. She's a beautiful ship.
