Atlantis with Limited Time

Recommended Posts

I will be in Nassau on Saturday, March 11, 2006 from 1:00 pm - 8:00 pm, with my girlfriend, via the Carnival Liberty. I am interested in booking a hotel room at the Comfort Suites in order to gain full access to Atlantis' facilities. The cost is roughly $250, but if I find two more people to split the cost it would lower the price to roughly $85 per person. Is this enough time to enjoy the faclities? Any insight or advice? Alternative excursions? Thanks in advance!!! Happy Holidays:) :)

gquest,

We will be in Nassau off the HAL Zuiderdam on 1/4/06 from 1p-8p also. We do have a room at Comfort Suites so we can use Atlantis Resort. I'll let you know how it works out time wise. It would appear that we would have to take a Taxi round trip between Comfort Suites and dock.

You could also take the water taxi from the dock and then walk over to Comofort Suites.

We did this last month, I think the fare is $6

We have also stayed at the Comfort Suites on a vacation and they are great, much less than staying at the Atlantis and you get everything thrown in.

We were in Atlantis last week from like 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and had booked a room there to use the facilities. We had our two kids, 10 and 13. While we would have loved to have had more time, we got through quite a lot of it -- and even did some relaxing. If you are there from 1:00 to 8:00, you definitely have time to enjoy it. We did not wait for the water taxis. We took a cab, and I think it was $18 each way. Our room was ready when we checked in first thing in the morning, but we never went to it.

KelJ,

I would be interested in what you thought about what to do first, etc. at Atlantis. We are there March 27th (Valor), booked comfort suites ($200 + taxes). We are docked from 7 - 2 and have a 13 and 15 year old.

Any hints for the short time?

How fast were you able to get off the ship and onto a cab?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks!!

i was at atlantis dec 17, got a room for 2 from exp**for $115 plus tax. was given 4 keys to use for adults and a room in coral hotel. toured the place with my inlaws who had not been there before then went swimming in the ocean and the pool . the slides were crowded, waited 20-25 minutes for one. had good weather and a good day. would highly recommend (was on CCL Liberty--it was a long walk down the pier).

Hi,

Can someone who has been there tell me if I will be able to get around in the hotel and casino areas at Atlantis on my small travel scooter? That is assuming I can get a taxi to load and unload it at the pier. We will be on RCI NOS in Feb. and I sure would like to be able to see this resort, or at least part of it.

Thanks for your input,

IrisF

We got off the ship really quickly in Nassau. As soon as you walk up the pier and go through the gate, there are tons of cabs. A man asked us where we wanted to go, we said Atlantis, and he put us in a cab (minivan) that already had some people in it that were going to Atlantis. So we literally walked off the ship and immediately into a cab. I want to say it was about a 10 to 15 minute cab ride. I think they charged us $20 going over and $16 coming back. When we were ready to leave Atlantis, there were cabs waiting.

Atlantis was DEAD when we first got there. It was like 8:00 or 8:30 I think. We were THE only people walking around. It was great. We checked in and just started walking. There are aquariums everywhere. They're all spread out.

We walked through several aquariums, including what I think was called the predator aquarium, and across a big rope bridge. We went to a towel hut and showed our keys and were given towels, and then my kids (10 and 13) did the lazy river for about an hour while hubby and I snoozed in our loungchairs at the kiddie pool.

Be sure to do the waterslide where you land in the shark tank -- or at least it looks like you do! We walked through the dig, where the kids can handle some starfish, conch, etc.

The casino is huge. We walked through it when trying to find our way out of there. It is so easy to get lost. The shops are very expensive, exclusive, in my opinion not worth wasting time in.

I don't know how much of the place we saw, but it's really awesome. Take note that you cannot spend cash (food, drinks, etc.). Everything has to be either billed to your room or put on a credit card.

It so wonderful. Have a great time!

Iris: You won't have much of a problem getting around. There are ramps and elevators. The elevators are not real visible and are small. They tend to be tucked away in corners. Especially when you come upon a stair case.

Thanks suezyq50, It makes me feel better if I know in advance what to expect!!! ;)

Just like department stores hide their elevators, you'd think they were ashamed of them or something.

Would I be able to just walk around the Atlantis and check out the aquariums?

Do you have to get a room to enter the grounds? Of course I would not be able to use the facilities.

I think you would be able to see a lot of the aquariums without a bracelet. I guess it depends how diligent they are in checking. When we were there on December 11th, at 8:30 in the morning we were literally the only guests walking around. We saw one staff member skimming the pool. As it got later in the morning, it started to fill up. I would say if you get there very early, you would have more of a chance of seeing things without a bracelet, although I honestly don't know which parts are restricted to guests and which parts are not.

We had a surprise port of call in Nassau and had nothing planned. Our ship was in from 7am to 2pm. Not much time for a full day at Atlantis. So we decided to go to Paradise beach for a quick swim in the ocean with the kids. $4 each for a one way taxi to the path next to Rui Hotel.

While beaching, one guess from the Riu Hotel mentioned to me to go down along the beach and just walk into the Atlantis grounds from the beach and check out the aquariums for the kiddies. I asked if we can access the Atlantis from the casino's in the front. She told me it was much easier thru the beach and she was right! Two entrances to the grounds from the beach and no security at 12pm. We ended up seeing the shark predator tanks and walking thru the shark tunnel. We noticed others with wristbands which were leaded by guides.

Due to shortage of time we headed out thru the casino lobby and caught a taxi back to the ship for $4 each.

Boo's Mom,

We were there about 45 minutes just walking and looking; but would have wanted to stay longer if our ship was not leaving at 2pm. Looking at all the water sport crafts and water slides we could have stayed an entire week!

Is there is anyone who could help with this question? How did you book your room at Atlantis? Did you call ahead or just show up at the front desk.

We have a group of 6, and would like to spend the day, I think that we will have about 8 hrs off of the ship.

We've spent a week at Atlantis. Other than use of the pools and water slides I'm not sure what you are paying for. Unless things have changed the dig, the casino etc are all open. Check with Atlantis. I bet they have a day rate that is less expensive than you are talking about.
