vecruiser2017 Posted January 31, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 31, 2018 Hi all. I'll be cruising February 10th on the Jewel out of Sydney. I am looking for recommendations on the best excursion for me and my friends to take a pic with a koala bear? Please and thank you!!!
ColinIllinois Posted January 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2018 A good place to ask this would be the Australia and New Zealand port of call forum. Here is the link for you: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

Edinburghgirl1 Posted January 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2018 In New South Wales where Sydney is located you are not allowed to handle Koala bears. You can have your photo taken along side one at Featherdale Wildlife Park just outside Sydney but to hold one you would have to go to Queensland. vecruiser2017 Posted January 31, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted January 31, 2018 Alongside is good also. Do you know if there is an actual excursion there?

vecruiser2017 Posted January 31, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted January 31, 2018 Featherdale looks like the place to check out. If anyone can let me know of any excursions on the cruise that would have this same opportunity, please feel free. Thanks.

If anyone can let me know of any excursions on the cruise that would have this same opportunity, please feel free. Thanks. We got in a few days early to adjust pre cruise and explore Sydney. The tour we took was a very long day that included a trip up into the blue mountains (see link below). We picked this particular tour because we wanted a small group and not a big bus tour. http://www.tourstogo.com.au/tour/52705-blue-mountains-in-style?sb=l105-a438

craftygrandma Posted January 31, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2018 I would recommend a trip to the Blue Mountains with a Ferndale stop. The Blue Mountains was the best part of our stay in Sydney. If you are going to Burnie, NZ there is a wildlife park that also has pictures with Koalas. Bocadude85 Posted February 1, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 1, 2018 If your itinerary includes a stop in Brisbane then Lone Pine Koala sanctuary is the place to go. We were able to hold the koalas and take multiple pictures.
grancayman Posted February 1, 2018 #14 Share Posted February 1, 2018 Hi there, I did the Wildlife Sydney a few years ago...we got off the plane, checked in to the hotel and headed to Darling Harbour and went straight to the Koalas. It was fabulous and although we bought a picture, they let us take as many as we wanted on our own. It was my first Koala experience and one I will always remember. Bruce Kinght Posted February 2, 2018 #17 Share Posted February 2, 2018 Just got off the Norweigan Jewel cruise Jan 21-31 Sydney to Auckland - we did a tour at the Burnie, Tasmania port and the tour we did in Burnie included a stop at a wildlife park where you could have kangaroos bounce right around you and I saw several people get a picture with a Koala under supervision. That was not included in tour - you had to pay the wildlife park separately but it was possible.
