evandbob Posted January 31, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 31, 2018 With the cruising demographic being what it is, I'm surprised that medevacs don't occur on every sailing.

evandbob Posted January 31, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 31, 2018 With the cruising demographic being what it is, I'm surprised that medevacs don't occur on every sailing. I've witnessed many myself, as well as walked by or seen waiting ambulances on the piers after a ship docks. Scariest one was a helicoptor hovering over the bow during a night time evac, and ignorant or non caring cruisers were trying to videofilm and use flash photo to record. When the medevac was announced to the cruisers, the Captain made clear that the use of any laser lights or flash photography could "blind" the heli pilot and cause a crash. The Captain was irate and chastised those offenders vigorously afterwards.
