Starting to feel paranoid about first cruise. Reassurance needed..

Relax. Like everyone else said, no one EVER "falls" overboard. They all either jump, slip while climbing something they shouldn't be because they were stupid and/or drunk, or were pushed by their husband/wife/in-law.

He’s not going over board. The railings are pretty high, and most people that go over board are either drunk, suicidal, or pushed by a partner, but most often it is due to too much alcohol. So many people think they have to drink until a near unconscious state. They are the ones doing stupid things and go overboard. Your grandchild will be fine. I just sailed with three of mine, and they had a ball!

I think you are going overboard thinking about someone going overboard. We've gone over this several times on this board, and the board has overwhelmingly determined that boarding while yelling "over" on a walkie-talkie is definitely a no-go, but if you are just talking while walking then you won't go overboard.

There's no way a cruise line is going to make it "easy" for a child (or anyone else) to "slip/fall off a cruise ship". That would be a huge liability for them and a billion lawsuits waiting to happen.

 

I'm taking my 4 yr old granddaughter on a cruise soon and I am not the least bit concerned. I've been once already and I'm confident that she will be fine.
