Platinum Walk Off

As a platinum member do you have a priority walk off or do you just get in line with the rest of those who do the walk off?

You walk off with everyone else for the carry your own luggage option. You do get priority tags and disembark ahead of most other groups if you want to let the ship handle your luggage.

Thanks, that is what I figured but you never know. I see you are from Berkley; we live in South Lyon. Maybe we will see you at a meet and greet someday.

You are with the rest of the ship walking off the only people that get escorted to the front of the security line are the Suites guests.

The Platinum priority disembarkation is the fact that you yet the yellow luggage tags and your bags are delivered to the baggage hall first (after the Gold Suite tags).

That being said, on the small ships, the concierge sometimes extends escorted disembarkation to their platinum members. It is not required, but if the concierge is proactive, they will make the offer (in exchange for a small gratuity). In this case, you show up at the meeting point and the concierge will take you to the front of the security line.

For us, the main benefit of being platinum on debarkation is that, unless you want to be off extremely early, you can effectively do self walk off without having to carry all your bags.

We usually put the yellow tags on most of our bags, and know that they will be available to collect soon after disembarkation starts. We hang on to one of our bags so that we don’t have to about putting clothes/washing stuff in carry ons. We then just walk off with that one bag when we fancy it.

Our last cruise on the Jade we had trouble getting those yellow tags, and then when yellow tags were called, they called two other colors at the same time. I was not happy about the resulting LONG line! Definitely not priority.

We’ve found on the last 3 trips we’ve had to go to the future cruise desk to get them as the yellow tags were not delivered.

Yes, this seems to be fairly standard these days.

On any ship you are supposed to get the same walk off procedure from the concierge as the suite guests.

Sure, some concierges aren't as good as others and you may need to initiate the contact.

Not sure why you think Platinum disembarkation is same as for suite guests. It is not.

Incorrect. Priority Disembarkation for Platinum members (yellow tags) is NOT escorted disembarkation by the concierge.

While they did list 0800-0830, and 0830-0900 times for walk-off passengers, (they actually began somewhat earlier than that), you could walk off later if you desired....you just would have to line up with those that did check their bags for pier pick up. Once on the lower level, you could bypass those searching for their bags, and proceed to the inspection line. That is what I did...I walked off at about 0910, with my bags.

It varies from cruise to cruise. More often than not, in my experience, the times given for self walk off cover pretty well the whole disembarkation period, for example 5.30-9.00

Occasionally a shorter timeframe is stated, but I have never seen this policed in any way and in practice you can leave whenever you like.

In fact, looking at the disembarkation details for one previous cruise it says these things on the same sheets:

In the order of disembarkation table it has approx 7.30-8.15 under "expected disembarkation time"

It also says "You can be the first group off the ship (once it's cleared by local customs) anytime between 7.30 am to 8.30 am."

Just under that is says "In order to take full advantage of the easy walk off program we highly recommend that you disembark before 9.00am to avoid congestion and possible delays at the gangways.

In true NCL fashion, it's as clear as mud. :)
