calteacher Posted February 6, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 6, 2018 We have quite a bit of on-board credit and are hoping to use it to pay for the Thermal Suite pass for the entire trip. My concern is there are only a set number of passes available. We are not in a suite, nor are we 4 or 5 star passengers so will not be able to board the ship early. I know we could purchase the passes before leaving, but we would have our credit card charged immediately. If we are unable to get passes once onboard, we will have quite a bit of credit which we will not use. What are the chances we could receive a refund. Some of the credit is from Carnival stock, some from our TA, and some from booking the cruise while aboard another cruise. Any info?

The credit from Carnival Stock and booking on board is technically non refundable and would be used first. Any received from your TA is refundable and could be in cash the last night of the cruise, or refunded to your card if you so desire. You can also do the "Casino Trick" to make sure all your non-refundable credit is used before the last night.
OlsSalt Posted February 6, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2018 If you can't get the thermal spa pass, think about some of the onboard spa services to enjoy instead using your on-board credit. Or shore excursions you book when onboard.
JRG Posted February 6, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Or think about a bottle (or two) of Johnnie Walker Blue Label for the boys back home. Or maybe some perfume for the misses. These are the only real things I'd buy on board with leftover OBC that was non-refundable.
DaveOKC Posted February 6, 2018 #5 Share Posted February 6, 2018 In my experience the Thermal Spa pass is available the first day, especially if you go as soon as you board (even if you are not in the first group). Most times they are still selling the passes the next day.

calteacher Posted February 6, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted February 6, 2018 Also, one of the incentives to board was that the daily services charges are paid by HAL.
RMLincoln Posted February 6, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 6, 2018 It's unlikely they will sell out the thermal spa passes, just go there first when you embark. If you do have unspent non-refundable OBC at the end of your cruise, you can have it added to your gratuity for the crew. m--
ithaca gal Posted February 7, 2018 #9 Share Posted February 7, 2018 I agree that it is very likely that the Thermal Suite passes will be available when you board. I've never been on a cruise that they sold out on the first day. Good luck to you!
Rare kazu Posted February 7, 2018 #10 Share Posted February 7, 2018 Just go right to the spa after you are on board and you should be able to purchase it. I have gone at 4 pm and there were still openings so I think you should be ok if you attend to it right away.
