Flower parade in Funchal Madeira

Our transatlantic cruise on the Odyssey calls into Funchal, Madeira on 22 April which I believe is the date of the annual flower parade. I'm told grandstand seats sell out months in advance. Has anyone been to this? Any advice on where to go for the best view? Will Seabourn arrange something?

We were there some years ago and the best advice is to get a place early. The grandstand tickets can only be bought with cash and are issued a week or so in advance which does not help when on a cruise. I think the parade starts at 4 oclock and is not to be missed. We will be on the same cruise as you and my wife who is a flower arranger can not wait.
