Loveacruise1986 Posted February 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2018 Hello Me and my family (my wife and 3 yr old) will be going on a cruise on Britannia 13th May around the fjords. We are doing guarantee cabin, selected for inside and been upgraded a cabin grade when we got allocated our cabin Our room will be a twin room with a Pullman - I have read on the website you can request mother care style bed rails? Do you ring p and o and pre book this or is it a dash to reception when we embark? Also on previous cruises we have been on we have gotten there for about 11.30ish and been allowed to check in with in 30 mins is this still the same? Any tips with cursing with a little one will be appreciated :) Roll on May!!
Rare Selbourne Posted February 11, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Any specialised equipment offered for loan by P&O needs to be booked in advance as they only have limited supplies on each ship and it’s ‘first come, first served’. Just call the P&O booking line and make your request. Your cabin steward will have it ready in your cabin for you. There is no charge. P&O makes a bit of a meal of embarkation and I think it almost certain that you will not board as early as you did last time. Technically, first boarding is 12.30pm for those in suites, then 1pm for Caribbean tier and above loyalty members, then regular boarding from around 1.30pm, although the latter is in order of pre-allocated boarding times so your time could be a few hours after that. However, in spite of the size of Britannia and the large number of passengers, we find it to be one of the better P&O ships for boarding and, in our experience (3 cruises on her) boarding can often run up to one hour ahead of the stated times above. As you have a little one to pre-occupy, and there is next to nothing to do in the terminal before you board, I would advise arriving at the terminal around one hour ahead of your allocated time (as shown on your e-ticket) and you will probably board very quickly. john watson Posted February 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Ok Thanks, as of 5 mins ago still not been allocated as yet!!! the suspense is killing me....:) At some point your cabin number will be divulged in the cruise personaliser. Once you know the cabin number you can see the grade it is classified as on the deck plan. Sometimes they upgrade you more than once so even given a cabin number now it might change again. Loveacruise1986 has been upgraded from PE to PB. This is an inside cabin to another inside cabin elsewhere but identical. Should be in a better location which is what the aforementioned upgrade is about. Higher grades have an earlier letter of the alphabet as the second letter ,running up to "A" after that any higher upgrade will have the first letter change and your category changes i.e. inside, oceanview, balcony etc. So watch out for that. I always say on "Guarantee" bookings the longer you wait the more hope you have of a better outcome. It is however just down to luck!
