MAMA "B" Posted February 12, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 12, 2018 If you pay for your drinks as you cruise, is there still a 15 drink minimum? If you have the DOU card in the casino, do they watch the amount the you pay for and add them to the DOU amount in the casino?

No limit on pay as you go. And no, they don't watch when you have the DOU program. Not as far as I know anyway. However, the bartenders are supposed to watch for overly-intoxicated guests and cut them off.
coevan Posted February 12, 2018 #3 Share Posted February 12, 2018 " is there still a 15 drink minimum?" maximum? The second sentence is even more confusing
RHilla619 Posted February 12, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 12, 2018 The 15 alcoholic drink rule only applies to Cheers customers, if you are paying by the drink you can buy 150 drinks a day if you wanted to. The bartenders are told to cut off overly-intoxicated guests no matter how many drinks they've had, so the 15 drink rule with Cheers comes down to a money making thinking with Carnival. Since you are paying by the drink, you don't have to worry about your DOU card count.
MAMA "B" Posted February 13, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted February 13, 2018 Thank you for your answers. We just wanted to make sure that if we have drinks at the pool or dinner, it doesn't count toward the 15 drink limit. Believe me, we are NOT planning on being intoxicated. afmomma Posted February 13, 2018 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2018 We just came off of a 10 day cruise paying as we drank because it was a chartered cruise therefore drink packages weren't offered. Being beer drinkers it was cheaper to buy a bucket that comes with 4 beers in it cost per bucket if you ordered at the bar $26.83 and if you ordered on deck and had it brought to you $ 28.63 Mixed drinks were also cheaper at the bar versus having one brought to you. We didn't have a limit on how much we could purchase.. I hope this helps. Sent from my iPad using Forums

When you get a drink, they take your folio number and enter it into their computer. If you have Cheeers, you don't get charged for the drink but it's taken away from the fifteen limit. So if you have a drink at the pool or at dinner, it will automatically be taken from the fifteen drinks no matter where you are on the ship. I hope that makes sense. Some on here have said that you can't buy more after the fifteen limit. Others have said they just tell the server that they are buying it for someone else.
