We are planning on being in Belize. How do we go about getting to San Pedro and Ambergris Caye? Do we need a tour guide?

The subway is down at the moment so your options are the water taxi or Tropic Air or Maya air. You don't need a tour to snorkel The Reef but you do need a guide to snorkel the Marine reserves in other words whole Chan or shark raye

Thanks for your answer. So once the tender takes us to the island, are the water taxi's close by? Do you have any idea the cost of these taxi's?

 

Is there any area close by where there are vendors where we might purchase some of their products?
