Royal Princess Balcony Question

Hey everyone, my mom had a BF guarantee cabin and she finally got her cabin assignment on Royal and got M126, which is a DF, I assume this is an upgrade? I don't quite understand why some cabins are considered upgrades when they are seemingly of a higher "letter" but they are obstructed vs non-obstructed. Thanks for any opinions, especially if anyone has had this particular cabin.

The guarantee booked was BF , balcony. Received a DF, deluxe balcony. It is a upgrade, a larger room with a small sofa. It is a good up grade.

It is also in a good location, between two decks with cabins above and below. It is all about location, well mostly. What they consider an upgrade, could be the same deck, but in a better location on the deck. Or it could be a higher deck, which for some reason is considered better, but I like lower decks myself.

M126 is very forward and could feel more motion in rougher seas. Otherwise, a great location.
