Book hotel through cruise line or do it myself?

Looking for a hotel for a precruise night in Ft Lauderdale next March 2019 most say I have to stay 2 nights others are $300 plus? Is it less expensive if I go through the cruise line? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Be careful when you book a hotel though the cruise line, because they typically quote "per person" pricing.

By the way, March is Spring Break, and Ft. Lauderdale is a prime destination.

Are you a "Starwood Preferred Guest" or a "Marriott Rewards" member? I just booked 2 nights next January for 20,000 Starwood points at the Westin Beach Resort - Ft. Lauderdale. If you don't have any points, don't sweat it. They're running a 35% off sale thru March 16th on any point purchases over 5,000. Normally, at the time I'm going, it's $550.00 per night. If you buy the 20,000 points outright to cover both nights it comes out to $455 for both nights! Not sure if they'll charge you more points for stays in March but it's worth looking into!
