HvySeezFcstr Posted February 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 21, 2018 Wondering how Luggage goes from ship to Air Flight in Fort Lauderdale or Miami?
fishywood Posted February 21, 2018 #2 Share Posted February 21, 2018 (edited) In most cases you either claim your luggage in the cruise terminal after your disembark, or carry it with you down the gangway if you elect your ship's version of "express walk-off". After which you (or a porter) brings the luggage with you to whichever mode of transport you have elected. The process obviously ending with you checking the bags at the airport yourself. Many cruise lines in PortMiami or Port Everglades do also offer a "luggage check" service where for a fee the cruise line will check you in with your airline the evening before arrival (possibly printing your boarding pass for you as well) and your luggage will be taken directly from your cabin (more specifically, the hallway outside your door) that evening to be forwarded to the airport the next morning and be checked for you; you will not see it again until arrival at your home airport. Availability subject to the airline, flight time and destination--usually restricted to flights the afternoon and evening of disembarkation, and must be ticketed by US carrier though the ultra-discount ones such as Allegiant and Spirit are not eligible. Of course if you are booked on a complete fly/cruise package with transfers included there certainly may be private arrangements made for your group. HvySeezFcstr Posted February 22, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted February 22, 2018 Thanks for the detailed reply. I think HAL has the on ship pickup of luggage, but wasn't sure how it worked, now I have a much better idea of what is available.
paul929207 Posted February 22, 2018 #4 Share Posted February 22, 2018 We have used Princess EZCheck several times and love it. You must apply for it a few days before the end of the cruise. You place your luggage outside your cabin the last evening. You next see it on the carousel at your home airport. Cost is $25pp plus whatever your airline charges. As part of the service, you are checked in, boarding passes and luggage tags are printed and delivered to your cabin.
