NCL ESCAPE....what every smoker wants to know

ok..so just got off the Escape. I thought I would inform the smokers exactly where you can smoke.

when you first embark...the only place you can smoke is on deck 8 in the humidor which is inside the ship and a small enclosed area. It is right before you go outside to the 5 o'clock somewhere bar. It is very small and very smoky. They do not allow smoking outside until the ship sails. This is because of fueling the ship.

Once you sail...you can smoke up on deck 17 outside at the waves bar. This is another small area with a bar. It is right beside the jogging track and waterslide area. My only beef about this area is it is right beside the jogging track. So there are the people jogging past the smokers :D. There is also a lot of traffic thru this smoking area.

the next place is Spice H2O, which is also on deck 17. This is close to Margaretville In the back of the ship. Basically if you are at Waves on 17...walk on the jogging track, take a right thru the doors and go straight. The smoking area is at the bar. This is the largest smoking area and very nice. It is adult only till 7p.m. After 7 children are allowed. They host movies and the glow party in this area.

Casino...there is a small portion of the casino that you can smoke in. As far as walking thru the casino to other areas of the ship and smelling smoke...I did not smell it. They have done a great job in the casino for non smokers.

now my only complaint or maybe it is just a suggestion...instead of or maybe in addition to the Waves smoking area...why didn't they have the 5'oclock somewhere bar area smoking on deck 8. That bar is not busy and not too many people walk around outside there. I believe this is the waterfront and maybe at first it was smoking??? This is not a high traffic outside area, close to the humidor...it would just make better sense to have smoking here.

Just off the Escape in Nov all the spots above is true. there is a hidden area on the water front on the Getaway by the irish bar. On getaway you could smoke in the Sunset bar outside the humidor 6 months ago I do not know about now.

my suggesting to change the smoking area from the WAVES bar to the 5'oclock bar..there is a lot of traffic by the waves. The jogging track is there...there is a ton of traffic that walks by that area. There was hardly anyone out by the 5 oclock bar area.

I don't smoke but they should make the entire Margaritaville smoker friendly in so that someone will actually want to go there and use the place.

there was no one in that area at all the whole 7 days. I saw one table outside playing cards for a couple of hours. that was it.

the only problem with that area being smoking is again it is right on the jogging track;.

How big was the smoking area in spice in getaway? When I went two years ago it was 1/4 the size of what they allow on Escape and I was extremely disappointed to find that their newer ship has expanded smoking areas so much.

If you're sitting there drinking the alcohol is only going in your body. Smoking and it goes into the body of anyone near you. Not to mention it is a cause of a lot of people going to the doctors office and prescription.

If smokers like smoking so much I've never quite figured out why they protest being closed off from non smokers...

If smoking is allowed on ships they should create a completely closed in unventilated box for smokers where they can suffocate on their own cancer sticks without exposing the rest of us to their deadly filth.

They have these in European airports. It's great. Though the box is ventilated.

This is why we couldn't even hang out at spice h2o as the only bar area was filled with smokers. Just another NCL bad idea...

Ok fine with ventilation as long as it ventilates out into the ocean far away from me and my family. Yes those boxes are a great model.

Its nice to know the waterfront is non smoking. We were on the Breakaway last month, La Cucina, Ocean Blue and, the inside and outside of Maltings were really bad. The noodles bar alongside the casino was unusable, for us at least. The worst ship for smoke since the 80's.
