LaHas2016 Posted March 8, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I'm curious. How do the 3 card poker tournaments work? Does anyone know the minimum starting bet per hand? I'll admit - I don't know how to play poker, but my husband is looking to play on our next cruise and I'm trying to figure out how it all works. lol Any help or input is appreciated! *I won't be playing, just spectating. I know I'd lose since I don't know what I'm doing.*
famof4togo Posted March 8, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 8, 2018 I am a new to poker myself but enjoy 3 card...I tease that it is the best game to play drunk because you either have a good hand or you don't...not too much thinking involved...lol....plus its not like blackjack where someone could get pissy with you for your play as your play doesn't effect others etc.....I enjoy the casino on the ship so much more then say Vegas as I enjoy the more "kick back" aspect of it.... Jim and Monika Posted March 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 9, 2018 Are you talking about 3 Card Poker tournaments or playing 3 Card Poker?
Djptcp Posted March 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2018 I've been on 32 Carnival cruises and am in the casino most of the time it is open and I've never heard of Three Card Poker tournaments! There are slot tournaments and Blackjack tournaments.
cmichael1279 Posted March 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2018 There's a "Three Card Showdown" on the Breeze next month... You get the invite for hitting certain hands in Three Card on a previous cruise. I THINK it's full house or better to get the invite, but I'm not 100% certain about that! It's not free either - Carnival quoted me for the cruise wasn't very good!
Jim and Monika Posted March 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 10, 2018 From my experience, you have to bet at least $5 on the 6 card Bonus and hit either a Full House or 5 card Straight Flush. Full House will get you an entry into the tournament and a casino code to book cruise at a reduced price. With the straight flush, you get the entry and a free inside cabin for the cruise. In the actual tournament, you play at tables of 7 with $2,000 in chips and play 7 hands with the top 2 chip counts at the end moving on. This works down to a final table of 7. Top prize was $25,000 and the top 49 get some type of payout with the lowest being $100. It was a lot of fun, with a little strategy and a lot of luck. Most winners at the tables had the best last hand as that's when players seem to wager the most. During these 3 Card Poker Showdown Tournaments, the Casino has many extra tables set up for 3 Card Poker. Even with the many extra tables, it was sometimes hard to find a seat in the evenings throughout our cruise. I have 2 certificates for the May 6, 2018 sailing on the Magic sailing out of Galveston, Texas along with the Casino rate of P3W. These certificates are in my name and can be transferred if anyone is interested. Deadline to confirm is March 30, 2018.

LaHas2016 Posted March 14, 2018 Author #8 Share Posted March 14, 2018 So what I'm gathering is that buy in is $2k, right?
Jim and Monika Posted March 15, 2018 #9 Share Posted March 15, 2018 No, Please see above. Once you are in the tournament, each player at each table, for each round receives $2,000 in chips. After 7 hands, the top 2 players at each table with the most $ in chips advance to the next round. I do have 2 certificates if anyone is looking as we are booked on a different cruise at the same time. The certificates come with a discounted cruise rate, but it expires at the end of March.
