Jareds_mommytoo Posted March 15, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Disney was amazing with our youngest food allergies. What can we expect on HAL? I’m reading about pre plated fruit what if she is allergic to one of the fruits can she have a plate made without it?
Krazy Kruizers Posted March 15, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Yes -- you can tell your waiter what fruit your child can not have in the dining room. In the Lido, you will need to ask someone to make a special plate of fruit as most times the fruit is prepared ahead of time and mixed together. You should notify HAL about 60 days before your cruise about your child's food allergies.
Jareds_mommytoo Posted March 15, 2018 Author #3 Share Posted March 15, 2018 We filled out a form for her allergies, and needing to warm up her heatpack for her JIA
TylerRose Posted March 15, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 15, 2018 I am allergic to shellfish and always anxiously fill out the allergy forms and have never had a problem. On the first night I am sure to speak with my head waiter, and his crew... During a behind the scenes tour on one of the HAL ships I discovered "THE WALL". All "our" special diet boarding pics- table numbers (if assigned seating)- and allergies posted as a reminder to crew. I commented on it. She promptly said... its only the backup. All our ID boarding pics ALSO identified our allergies and keep special needs records that follow with us to reservations in restaurants... and while I know that info offers little relief for lido, I hope it does offer some insight in behind the scenes main dining. For a child- I would also consider an allergy bracelet or necklace as an additional precaution.
Jareds_mommytoo Posted March 15, 2018 Author #5 Share Posted March 15, 2018 Thank you both, it makes us feel better. She is 13 and is pretty proactive in asking but she was worried she couldn’t get fruit if it only was mixed. She loves pineapple lol
alwaysfrantic Posted March 15, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2018 They were as good as Disney on food allergies. No issues. The Lido is tough if it is a hidden ingredient. I wish the food tags listed the ingredients in the dish but they do not.
