dag144 Posted March 26, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2018 Does the front desk have a supply of euros to exchange for small amounts of dollars. Same question re the casino. Also can one settle part of ones final bill with euros. I know that tip the staff with euros which is probably appreciated at the beginning of the European travel season. catl331 Posted March 26, 2018 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2018 (edited) Yes, but the exchange rate won't be good. To pay your final bill with them they would first exchange them back to $US, again paying a change penalty. Crew will happily accept Euros any time, not just at the beginning of the season. They can exchange them on board or in port or in an airport on the way home at contract end. Right now 1 Euro is worth $1.24, so even with an exchange penalty they make out much better with E. Rare kazu Posted March 26, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 26, 2018 Just to add to Carol's post that the casino does not have foreign currency, just US $. The front desk (or concierge for those in Neptune Suites & above) usually has euros on hand for exchange. I say usually as they can run out or have difficulty getting enough on occasion. We bring some with us (fair exchange rate here) and use ATM's for the remainder that we need. A much better exchange rate than on the ship. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted March 26, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 26, 2018 We use ATMs to get Euros as we need them. We’ve found we get a better exchange rate than on the ship or at money exchanges. We also try to havea few Euros leftover for the next trip.
