Some ships seem warmer in the warmer weather, Glory seems to be one, another we found warm was the Magic.

Our recent cruises on the Conquest, Paradise, and Miracle, we found the cabins cooler, and didn't ask for a fan.

Important to those who need a fan, ask sooner then later, fans are limited.

Agree on the TV channels, we watch a lot of tnt/tbs/tmc movies at night when we have the TV on.

I have my first Carnival cruise booked on the Glory for November. Are you saying the rooms don't have individual thermostats?

Each cabin has its own thermostat, but some ships don't have a strong feeling of a/c coming out. What comes out of the vent is cool, Just not a strong flow.

that's why a fan to blow the AC around the cabin mates it feel much cooler.

Another thing we noticed, the 'warmer' ships also have quieter AC systems. Our cruise on the Miracle had the coldest AC, but also the nosiest! So it seems,,, more air flow, more sound. ;)

We left the casino drawing this morning, didn't win, but we left surprisingly ahead from gambling as we headed for brunch!-))

My brunch was 2 rye toast, 2 strips of turkey bacon, 2 chicken sausages, and a side of mayo to make my own sandwich, ,,,it was great!

My wife had mac and cheese with steak, she thought it was very good.

We went back to the cabin where lucky me rested, and my wife went off to the laundry.

4 pm is coming soon, Matilda the cow drawing!!

We headed to the casino for the 4pm Matilda the cow drawing, didn't win, so we headed to the excursion desk.

We're trying to purchase the 'Blue Lagoon' at Mahogany Bay, but the port hadn't emailed back the excursion desk with the info, so we'll have to wait until we come back onboard tomorrow after Grand Cayman to see how it goes.

After that, we head over to the guest services desk to print out our luggage tags, and boarding passes from my tablet for next weeks Conquest cruise, which guest services does.

Then we head back to our cabin to get ready for dress up night in the MDR, for me that means a polo shirt and long pants! I'm a retired Florida boy, who is in shorts year round, except on Carnival's 'lobster night'! -))

Dinner is great , we chat with couples on both sides of us!

My wife wants to see the 'epic Rock' show tonight, but offers me a compromise, we head back to our cabin, where I change back into comfortable shorts, and off we go to the show.

I'm not a big fan of the singers on this ship right now, but their dancing is good. Overall it was enjoyable.

We head back to our cabin after the show, Grand Cayman is a early stop tomorrow, so we call it a night early!

Happy cruising!

Glory is in Grand Cayman this morning, it's about 7:15 and the tenders are hooking up.

Of course the cabin door slamming has begun to guarantee everyone wakes up! -))

My wife has returned from deck 5 alchemy bar where you pick up your tender tickets, we could have gotten off on the first tender without one as Platinum/priority, but we'll enjoy room service coffee/muffins first!

A side note, between week 1 and week 2, our b2b group was about 25 people, between week 2 and week 3, our b2b group was about 50 people.

My wife returns with the tender ticket at the same time room service arrives, we'll plan on leaving the ship in about an hour.

Our favorite places on the beach in Grand Cayman to go without planning ahead are ,,,

Calico Jacks=no cost other then chair rentals if you want, and of course drinks and food. A beach, fun place, no pool. Because it's the least expensive, it also gets very busy with multiple ships in port.

Royal Palm=costs around $25. for 2 chair rentals, plus whatever you want to ear and drink. There is a pool with swim up bar, a lot of Carnival's excursions end here, so it tends to get very busy later in the day.

Hemmingways=free to enter, they just want you to spend $25. a person during your time there on food/drinks, there is a pool with swim up bar. You can also pre book a cabana on the beach, or around the pool!!

Our plan starting today is Hemingway's.

A taxi ride to each listed above can be easily taken from the port.

Just remember, plan on returning AT LEAST 1 hour before your last tender time, the road back from the beach gets very crowded in the afternoon.

Today we are lucky, the Glory is the only ship in port today,,, so far!

Thanks for the updates. I'll be there in 5 days with a FTTF surprise for my husband and a decorated balcony instead of the porthole he thought we had to celebrate our 20th anniversary! Reading your updates makes me even more excited except for that warm part. I wish they had ceiling fans! Ask your wife if the washer/dryer takes the SScard or do we need quarter. Have you ever asked for salmon with your breakfast room service? I read someone wrote it on the card and got it.

Yes your s&s card works in the laundry, my wife said the instruction are very easy to follow.

She did our laundry the afternoon of elegant night, so the ironing board had a waiting line, best to wash clothes on a different day.

No we only order a carafe of coffee, some juice, a few muffins, maybe a box of cereal, or a croissant, until we head to the dining room for brunch, on a sea day, or a late lunch after a port day.

My wife orders the grilled salmon on brunch, and a bagel with salmon on regular breakfast in the MDR.

On the B2B's they deliver a small bowl of fruit which we keep, and a bottle of some type of bubbly which we usually give to our dining staff!

We just got back from Grand Cayman at 2pm, had a Great day at Hemingway's!

We took a taxi at the port by ourselves, cost $20. for the 2 of us.

Once at Hemingway's, we grabbed a couple beach chairs with an umbrella, and ran into the beautiful water. The little fish were swimming between our legs! The water was clear and a comfortable temperature.

After about 90 minutes, we grab our things and head off to one of 2 pools at Hemingway's, to swim in the pool while we waited for our lunch order.

I ordered a 8oz Angus burger with fries and a beer, while my wife ordered a lobster quesadilla with fries, and a beer. Both were great!!! Yep, better then Guys!

About the 2 pools,,, one is 4 feet deep with a volley ball net across, this pool also has a ramp entry, which I guess makes it wheel chair accessible. The other pool has a swim up bar, 2 ends that are 3 feet deep, and a center area that is 7 1/2 feet deep. There are also areas along the sides that have 6 inch deep shelf areas that recliners can be put in. Just a beautiful pool set up.

Want to give a shout out to Hemmingway's general manager-Reno and our server-Shiela, and all the others we met here, they provided great service!

Back on ship was 2pm, so after lunch we showered, changed, then shared a taxi ride back in a van with others, cost $4. Per person.

There was a long tender line at the port, but we got though it in about 20 minutes.

The manager, the staff at Hemingway's are just great, really looking forward to a return trip to the Cayman's that will definitely include Hemingway's !!

1 ship in port today, only half of Hemingway's beach lounge chairs were taken, and there was almost no one at the pool. I imagine with more ships in port, this place is more crowded, but I'd suggest taking advantage of this place before the hotel surrounding the property which is under rehab./closed right now, re-opens this Dec.!!! The pool area, and the beach are just gorgeous!!!

There's another Matilda the cow drawing this afternoon we'll try to make, then off to the excursion desk to see if we can purchase Blue Lagoon at Mahogany Bay. "Phone call", its James at the excursion desk, we'll get our Blue Lagoon tiks. this afternoon, looking forward to checking it out, will talk about it more tomorrow. (got some extra time now, maybe I can sneak into the casino for awhile! -) )

Afterwards my wife will decide MDR/buffet, show/comedy club/or an early night! I have her make these decisions, what's the saying,,,, a happy wife makes a happy marriage? And my wife gets cranky when she's hungry, another reason why we always cruise 'anytime dining'! -))

Anyone with suggestions about their experiences in Aruba or Curacao, which is where we're headed on the Conquest next week, chime in!!!

Our thread next week for the 8 day southern Conquest cruise will be titled

'8 days on the Conquest after 21 days on the Glory'

We'll include what we're doing during the week, along with a Glory Vs Conquest comparison from our view!!

Happy cruising!

We'll be on Glory in June. Very disappointed to hear about the warmth. If it's that warm now, I wonder what it's going to be like for us. We do take our own portable fan, but I might try to get one from Guest Services too. I cannot sleep when it's hot. :(

We were aboard Conquest two years ago and our cabin was quite warm. But the couple we cruised with, theirs was nice & cool. And our cabins were practically back to back.

Yes your s&s card works in the laundry, my wife said the instruction are very easy to follow.
Firemanbobswife (here on CC) was just on the Glory a couple weeks ago and said the laundry was coin-operated. I wonder if some decks have updated to S&S cards and others not?

Are small clip on fans allowed? Or will it get taken
Yes, even bigger ones. Shoot, someone said in another thread recently that they've seen people bring on their own box fans. I bring an 8" portable fan and a long (10 ft.) extension cord. That way I can put it right by our bed. It doesn't matter if you put it in your checked luggage or carry-on, but I put mine in a carry-on. That way if anyone at the terminal questions it, and it's there with me, I can plead my case. Otherwise, if they confiscate it, you won't know until you get to your cabin and see the letter. They are allowed, but I think sometimes some terminal employees get a little overzealous. By the way, we'll be on the Glory June 9th cruise too. :)

:)

That is correct. The laundry on Deck 1 was coin operated. I had to wait for a lady to finish ironing a shirt before I could do my dress and I made it a point to check out that very thing while I was standing there :).

On deck 6, you could use coins 'or' your S&S card.

There's a machine on the wall across from the machines that you slide your card through, then input your machine number! But the machines also take coins.

If you have any questions how it works, a room attendant will help you, they helped us! -))

You can even buy soap with your card!

Made it to the Matilda the Cow drawing.

And my name was called!

So then they hand you this big plastic dice that you roll, and you get to pick these spots on the cow, the higher the number you throw, the more picks!

So I rolled a 1!

And the 1 pick I had was the lowest amount of money=$50.!

But it's better then nothing!-))

Afterwards we played in the casino for awhile, then headed to a early dinner.

Tonight they had steak skewers as an app, so I ordered 2 for my app., then ordered 4 more with a side of green beans for my dinner.

The couple next to us tonight thought that was a great idea, so the husband had the same order!

We had a great conversation with them over dinner, decided we didn't want desert, and left to return to our cabin for a early night.

We want to be ready for a nice beach day at Mahogany Bay tomorrow!

Our first week on the Glory when we stopped at Mahogany Bay, we bought the Carnival excursion Maya Key with lunch.

We had a really good time, the pool was great, the beach was nice, the buffet food was good, but as others have stated about bug bites, my wife got 4 little bug bites, I got 3, and I never went near the beach. A young woman on on shuttle back to the port got bit maybe 20-30 times, so this time we decided to try this Blue Lagoon area at the port.

Gonna get some rest, happy cruising!

We'll be on deck 6 too. This is good because I really didn't want to pack a bunch of quarters. Although, I just read the other day that you can get quarters in the casino, so there's that.

We're still looking for something to do in St. Thomas, possibly. We're definitely using Grand Turk as our snorkel day but thought maybe we'd try a beach at another port. Problem being, the rest don't have beaches near the port. I saw your post about Coki beach, but there's four of us, so I'm not sure a $72 taxi ride round trip is worth it to us. We're not really beach people, but we tried our hand at snorkeling for the first time a couple years ago in Grand Turk and enjoyed it. We're definitely beginners, so we don't want a snorkeling excursion, we just like to go at our own pace and thought trying another beach in addition to Grand Turk would be nice.

We thought about doing the Skyride to Paradise Point in St. Thomas. We'd really love to do the Sea Trek. Carnival has it available in our excursion choices, but when I go to the Coral World Ocean Park website, it says the Sea Trek is still closed due to the hurricanes.

I will only say this, the snorkeling at Coki beach was great. As you enter the beach, there are some rocks along the right side border, and there are just so many colorful fish there.

The guys who rent the chairs, etc. will give you little dog biscuits to break up and attract the fish, and they will be attracted, they'll eat right out of your hands.

The beach at Coki isn't a resort, it's a locals beach that ship people take over for a few hours each day.

Coral World Ocean Park next to Coki beach is open, we saw quite a few people over there in the water, and walking around. We didn't go in, so we don't know what they are offering.

All the beaches on St Thomas are nice in their own way, and we like to change it up each time we go, so as much as we enjoyed Coki beach, we'll head somewhere else next time.

We awaken this morning to a sunny day, an island is off our port side, no idea what it's called, but we seem on time for 10:00 am docking at Mohagony Bay.

Today's room service is a croissant with cream cheese and coffee for my wife. I have my usual 3 assorted muffins with 'multiple' cups of coffee.

We'll prepare for an approx. 10:30-11:00 departure from the ship to Mohagany Bay.

Today we're going to try out the 'Blue Lagoon' area that has its own servers and beach area almost directly under the sky ride, just before you get off the ride.

I thought it would be better to get away from the 'people soup' of the beach at Mohagany Bay! I could just lay out in the water, and watch people pass by on the sky ride. -))

We tried the Maya Key excursion from Carnival 2 weeks ago, but the few bug bites we got, along with another young woman who got a lot more, kinda turned us off about going there again, for now. It was a beautiful place.

Anyone interested in Blue Lagoon, you can't purchase this ahead of time, you can purchase it at your excursion desk on the ship. They have 2 offerings, 1 is a double lounger with a couple bottles of water, and access to this private fenced off area for about $85. a couple. The second one is a double bed with curtains with basically the same options as number 1 for about $150.? We took the less expensive double lounger as I spend most of the time at a beach in the water, my lounger is just a place to put my things keeping them off the sand! -))

Anyone interested in more info on this,,, go to mahoganybay.com, and at the top of the page, hit the excursion button, and you'll see offerings including Blue Lagoon.

You can also just google, mahogany bay blue lagoon.

Pricing info can be received at 'frontdesk@mahoganybaycc.com'

They usually respond back in 1 business day.

I'll let you know what we think about this area this afternoon after we return.

Happy cruising.

For those interested, I took a morning walk, and decided to check out the deck 1 laundry, and they have installed the system where you can use quarters in the machine, 'or' turn around, and next to the soap machine is a place/machine you can slide your 'S&S card' to wash/dry your clothes.

I believe the self laundry is mid ship starboard on most, if not all decks.

And yes there was a line on deck 1 to use the iron! -))
